CARBON HILL — Dora connected on three clutch 3-pointers in the fourth quarter and Brent Geeter was perfect at the free throw line down the stretch as the visiting Bulldogs edged Carbon Hill 54-51 on Tuesday night.

Like the previous meeting between the teams, the game went down to the wire.

Carbon Hill had a chance to tie the game late, but was unable to connect on a potential game-tying 3-pointer.

“I’m proud of the way the guys bounced back after a hard fought game last night,” Dora coach Michael Bridges said, referencing the Bulldogs’ 64-63 loss to Briarwood Christian on Monday. “I was very pleased with the free throw shooting down the stretch.”

Geeter, who finished with a game-high 19 points, was 6 of 6 from the free-throw line in the final quarter. He also made three 3-pointers in the game.

The matchup was close throughout. The teams were tied at 14-14 after the first quarter and Carbon Hill held a slim 25-23 lead at the half.

In the third quarter, Tyler Leach had a pair of baskets for Dora, Averiun Berry made three free throws and Geeter hit a 3-pointer.

Carbon Hill struggled on offense in the third period, making just two shots and scoring five points as Dora took a 35-30 lead into the fourth quarter.

Carbon Hill drew even with Dora at 40-40 with three minutes left, but a quick burst by Dora put the Bulldogs up 46-42 at the 2:20 mark.

For Dora (6-6), which won the first meeting between the teams 46-41, Kavin Towns and Leach each had nine points.

Carson McGinnis had 12 points, Braden Wright added 11, Jon Michael Madison had nine points — all in the fourth quarter — and Isaac Woodard put in eight for Carbon Hill (4-6).

Carbon Hill hosts Hamilton on Thursday and Dora hosts Jasper on Friday.
