Prep Basketball: Carbon Hill splits with Hamilton

Hamilton knocked down a last-second shot to edge Carbon Hill 57-54 in their matchup Thursday night at Carbon Hill High School.

The Bulldogs charged back from a 14-point deficit to notch the score at 54-54 before the Aggies pulled out the win. Carbon Hill has lost its last three games by a total of six points. Hamilton led 29-16 at the half on Thursday. The Bulldogs trailed 46-32 going into the fourth quarter.

For Carbon Hill (4-7), Carson McGinnis had 20 points and Jon Michael Madison added 11. Hamilton’s Ethan Brumley had 21.

Carbon Hill, which has dropped three straight games, plays at Cordova today.

Varsity Girls

Carbon Hill 46, Hamilton 35

Carbon Hill’s girls picked up their 10th win of the season, beating Hamilton 46-35 at home on Thursday night.

The Bulldogs used a dominant third quarter to take control, outscoring Hamilton 18-3 to break open a close game.

Hamilton led 11-10 after the first quarter and the teams were tied at 17-17 at the half. Carbon Hill (10-4) took a commanding 35-20 lead into the fourth.

Both Allie Parr and Grayson Evans had 13 points for the Bulldogs, Alayna Ivie added seven points and four assists, both Abby Martin and Lacey Evans had five points and Bailey Kelley added three.

Varsity Boys

Meek 70, Addison 57

Caleb Aaron poured in 32 points to lead Meek past Addison 70-57 in Arley on Thursday.

Aaron had 12 points in the first quarter as the Tigers built a 20-14 lead. The Bulldogs kept the game close through two quarters with Meek holding a 36-31 halftime lead.

Meek controlled the second half, outscoring Addison 34-26. The Tigers led 57-42 going into the fourth quarter.

Kevin Chino added 12 points for Meek (10-5), Payton Key put in 10 and Chris Clark had eight.

For Addison, Logan Wilkins had 10 points, Jesse Broke had nine, all in the first quarter, and Caleb Crider also had nine.

Meek hosts Falkville today.
