Macon Phillips drove in two runs with a two-out single in the top of the seventh inning to give Dora a come-from-behind 5-3 victory at Corner High School on Saturday.

The Yellow Jackets jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, but were unable to hold on against coach Justin Blevins’ Bulldogs.

“This is our biggest win of the year,” Blevins said. “Hopefully we can build off this.”

Dora (3-7) tied the game with a three-run fourth inning and went ahead for good in the seventh.

Cole Hargrove led off the inning by reaching on an error. After a strikeout, Bailey Thomason singled and Tyler Wright walked to load the bases. With two outs, Phillips smacked a single to left field scoring both Hargrove and Thomason.

Tyler Goodwin shut the door on Corner in the bottom of the seventh, allowing one hit before recording three consecutive outs.

Dora’s Davien Freeman got the win on the mound, allowing three runs — two earned — on three hits and six walks while striking out five. At the plate, Tanner Earnest was 1 for 2 with a stolen base, Caleb Stone and Hargrove were both 1 for 3 with a run and an RBI, Thomason was 1 for 4 with a run and Phillips was 1 for 4 with two RBIs.

For Corner (5-11), Gage Lisby was 1 for 1 with two stolen bases and a run, Cooper Norris was 1 for 2 with a run and Colby Drummond was 1 for 3 with an RBI.

Isaiah McCracken was 1 for 3 and Devne Daniel added a run and an RBI.

Garrett Ellis took the loss for the Jackets, allowing two unearned runs on two hits and two walks while striking out three in 3 1/3 innings.

Corner, which advanced to the Class 5A state semifinals last year, struck first with a run in the opening inning when Colby Drummond’s bases-loaded single scored Tyler Wright.

The Jackets scored two more in the second inning. Devne Daniel’s sac fly drove in Gage Lisby to make the score 2-0. Cooper Norris scored later in the inning on a passed ball.

Corner held the 3-0 advantage until the top of the fourth when Tyler Wright scored on an error. Caleb Stone and Cole Hargrove drove in runs later in the inning to notch the score at 3-3.
