Prep Baseball: Dora sweeps Sumiton Christian at Rickwood Field

Dora took a pair of games from Sumiton Christian at Rickwood Field on Saturday.
 
The Bulldogs earned 3-2 and 7-3 wins for their second double header sweep of the Eagles this season.
 
The first game was a pitcher’s duel with Dora scoring three runs in the bottom of the sixth to make up a 2-0 deficit and get the win.
 
The Bulldogs (9-3) took advantage of a pair of walks in the inning. Boone Martin’s sacrifice fly scored Garrett Hogland for the go-ahead run.
 
Tyler Allen got the win, giving up two runs, one earned, on six hits and three walks while striking out nine in seven innings.
 
At the plate, Hogland was 1 for 3 with a run and an RBI, Tanner Earnest, Zach Watson and Allen had hits, Knoxx Eustice and Logan Fowler scored runs and Martin had an RBI.
 
Isaiah Wright took the loss, giving up three runs, two earned, on four hits and three walks with four strikeouts in six innings. Sam Nix was 2 for 4 with an RBI, Sam Shumate was 1 for 2 with a run, Jake McDonald was 1 for 3 with a run, both Jace Barrentine and Corbin Hicks had hits and Landon Shumate had an RBI.
 
In the second game, the Eagles took a 2-0 lead in the second. Dora tied the game in the bottom of the third and scored three times in the fourth to take a 5-2 lead.
 
Watson led the Dora offense, going 2 for 2 with a home run, two runs scored and an RBI, Hogland was 2 for 3 with a run, Earnest was 2 for 4 with two RBIs, Allen was 1 for 2 with a triple, a run and an RBI, Zac Headrick was 1 for 3 with a run, Martin was 1 for 4 with a double and a run, Jake Phillips was 1 for 2, Kyle Chapman had an RBI and Hayden Bozeman scored a run.
 
Chapman got the win, giving up three runs, two earned on eight hits while striking out two in seven innings. 
 
Griffin Myers was 2 for 4 for Sumiton Christian (6-6), McDonald was 2 for 3 with a run, Nix was 1 for 3 with an RBI, Josh Allred was 1 for 2 with a run, both Jace Barrentine and Tyler Ingle added hits and Sam Shumate had an RBI.
 
Ingle took the loss, allowing six runs, four earned, on nine hits and a walk with four strikeouts in five innings.

Cordova 8, Shades Valley 1
Cordova 14, Shades Valley 9
 
Cordova won a pair of games at Shades Valley on Saturday, beating the Mounties 8-1 and 14-9.
 
In the opener, Garrett Gilmore got the win, allowing one run on no hits and a walk while striking out eight in 3 1/3 innings.
 
Offensively, Brady Ireland was 2 for 3 with two RBIs and Mason Robertson was 2 for 4 with a pair of RBIs.
 
In the second game, Andrew Hunt got the win on the mound, allowing eight runs on eight hits while striking out four in five innings.
 
Brodie Taft was 3 for 4 with three runs and three RBIs, Ireland was 3 for 4 with three RBIs and Nathan Bullocks was 3 for 5 with two runs.
 
Cordova (5-4) plays at Sumiton Christian on Monday.

Oakman 17, Addison 5, five innings
 
Oakman scored 11 runs over the first two innings and rolled to a 17-5 road win over Addison Saturday.

The Wildcats had 20 hits in the game led by Dawson Crowell, who was 4 for 4 with two doubles, three runs and five RBIs, Will Rainer was 3 for 4 with two runs and three RBIs, Chase Moody was 3 for 4 with a run and two RBIs and Ketch Jones was 3 for 5 with three runs. Moody earned the win, allowing one hit and three walks while striking out two in three innings.
 
Oakman (4-2) hosts Holy Family on Monday.
