SUMITON — Dora’s offense was in mid-season form in its season opener on Monday at Sumiton Christian’s Blair Field.
 
The Bulldogs had 19 hits, and took advantage of several Sumiton Christian miscues, in a double-header sweep, winning 9-4 and 13-5.
 
Logan Fowler led Dora at the plate. On the day the lead-off hitter was 5 for 7 with a pair of doubles, two stolen bases and five runs scored. Zac Headrick was 4 for 8 with two doubles, two runs and four RBIs. 
 
In the opener, Dora broke the game open with a four-run sixth inning that pushed the lead to 8-0.  Headrick had three RBIs while both Boone Martin and Jake Phillips had two.
 
Tyler Allen got the win on the mound, allowing three unearned runs on one hit and one walk with nine strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings. Knoxx
 
Eustice went the final 1 1/3 innings, allowing one unearned run on one hit and one walk with three strikeouts. 
 
For Sumiton Christian, Jordan Robertson suffered the loss, giving up three runs, two earned, on four walks and one hit while striking out four in three innings.
 
Offensively, Robertson was 1 for 2 with a double, a run and an RBI, Jacob Thompson was 1 for 1 with a double and both Griffin Myers and Josh Allred scored runs. 
Dora scored just three earned runs in the nightcap, which was shortened to five innings due to darkness.
 
The Bulldogs blew open a close game with a six-run third inning.
 
Martin led Dora with five RBIs in the game. Fowler scored four runs and Tanner Earnest scored three. Kyle Chatman went all five innings, giving up five runs, three earned, on nine hits with two strikeouts to get the win.
 
On the day for the Bulldogs, Boone Martin was 2 for 7 with two runs and seven RBIs on the day, Jake Phillips was 2 for 7 with a run and three RBIs, Earnest was 1 for 3 with six runs and an RBI, Allen was 3 for 5 with two runs, Eustice was 1 for 2 with two runs and an RBI and Garrett Hogland was 1 for 3 with two runs.
 
For Sumiton Christian, Isaiah Wright took the loss in the night cap, allowing four runs, no earned runs, on three hits and a walk with three strikeouts.
 
Ashton McClendon was 2 for 3 with a run and two RBIs for the Eagles, Tyler Ingle was 2 for 3 with a double and two runs, Griffin Myers was 2 for 3. Jace Barrentine and Sam Shumate both finished with 1 for 3 with a double and a run, Josh Allred added a hit and Robertson scored a run.
 
Dora (2-0) hosts Dora on Thursday while Sumiton Christian plays at Minor on Thursday.
