OAKMAN — Christian Hubbard scored two touchdowns in each of the first three quarters and finished with 228 yards and six touchdowns as the Oakman Wildcats picked up a 48-13 win over the Holt Ironmen on Friday night.

The game ended on a sour note with Oakman's Cristian Lopez suffering an injury with 5:09 left in the game. Lopez was hit as he tried to recover an Oakman fumble. He was taken off the field on a stretcher and later taken by medical helicopter to the hospital.

Both coaches agreed to end the game after the injury.

Hours after the game, Hall said Lopez was released to go home and suffered no broken bones.

On the field Friday, Oakman had its way with Holt, scoring on four of its first five possessions. Hubbard had the first six touchdowns. He scored on a six-yard run to get the scoring started at the 5:50 mark of the first quarter. He added an eight-yard run and a two-point conversion for a 14-0 lead with 3:17 left in the opening quarter.

In the second quarter, Hubbard scored on runs of 17 and 22 yards. Oakman led 28-0 at the half.

Lopez picked off a Holt pass late in the second quarter to end a threat.

Hubbard had 177 yards and four scores on 18 carries in the first half.

Oakman's William Marshall and John Tate O'Rear blocked a punt on Holt's first possession of the third quarter. Two plays later Hubbard scored on a five-yard run for a 35-0 lead. Nick Handley recovered a fumble on a botched punt return that led to Hubbard's last score — a 29-yard run with 1:29 left in the third quarter for a 42-0 lead.

Oakman's final score came on Ryan Shepherd's 46-yard run down the sideline in the fourth quarter.

Holt added two big-play touchdowns once Oakman's starters were removed from the game in the fourth quarter — on a 27-yard pass and a 46-yard run.

Oakman's Malachi Bridges completed 3 of 8 passes for 30 yards with an interception. He also made four of five extra points.

Hubbard finished with 228 yards and six touchdowns on 24 carries. He also had a 12-yard catch to convert a 4th-and-8 play.

"He played really well," Hall said of Hubbard. "He does a lot of things you don't see in the stat line. Sometimes, as a coach, you get caught up watching him. He's just a special player. He's fun to watch."

Oakman (2-0, 1-0) makes the trip to 3A power Gordo next week in another region game.
