Bevill State Community College will host nursing students from across the state this Saturday.
The Alabama Association of Nursing Students 2019 Leadership Summit will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, and Bevill State's Jasper campus was chosen as the host site for the event.
"It's for nursing students statewide — from community college students to universities," BSCC Dean of Health Sciences Penne Mott said.
The event will feature a number of guest speakers, to include CRNA Genia Corum of Decatur Morgan Hospital, RN Brian Buchmann of Huntsville Hospital, oncology nurse Monica Beck, and sexual assault nurse Whitney Swatloski, among others. Alabama State Nurses Association President Dr. Sarah Wilkinson will also speak.
The leadership summit will begin at 8 a.m., with registration and breakfast lasting until 8:30 a.m., followed by guest speakers. Nursing students may register on site or at www.eventbrite.com by searching AANS 2019 Leadership Summit.
Mott said the event will allow nursing students to network and also participate in an NCLEX mini-review. NCLEX is the final licensure exam for nursing students.
"It will help them with education and to put that on their resume that they participated," Mott said.
Food and door prizes will be available, and nursing students will have an opportunity to speak to a number of vendors.
