Lynn comes up short against Marion County, 20-18

GUIN — Lynn was held out of the end zone in the closing seconds as Marion County earned a 20-18 victory over the Bears in their region showdown on Friday night.

On the final play of the game, Lynn quarterback Brandon Hill avoided a sack and was hit at the 2-yard line, fumbling the ball away as the final seconds ticked off.

Lynn trailed 13-0 in the second quarter before rallying.

Hill got Lynn on the scoreboard with a 14-yard touchdown pass to Jacob Rivera to make the score 13-6 at the half.

Marion County struck again for a 20-6 lead in the third quarter.

Early in the fourth quarter, the Bears cut the lead to eight points at 20-12 on an 18-yard touchdown pass by Hill to Micah Cagle. With seven minutes remaining, Hill hit Cagle on a 58-yard touchdown pass for the final points of the game.

Hill finished with 100 yards on 21 carries while completing 13 of 25 passes for 233 yards and three touchdowns (15, 17 and 57 yards).

Cagle finished the game with four catches for 108 yards and two scores, Rivera had four catches for 59 yards and a touchdown, Alex Narramore had three catches for 39 yards and Griffin Lynn had two for 26 yards.

Lynn (1-1, 0-1) hosts Pickens County in a region game next week.
