Jimmy Neil Smith, 79, of Winfield, formerly of Eldridge, passed away Friday, Aug. 11, 2017, at Northwest Medical Center at Winfield.
Visitation was held Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Miles Funeral Home. Visitation will also be held at Kansas United Methodist Church today, Aug. 13, 2017, from 1 to 2 p.m. Funeral services will be held today, Aug. 13, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Kansas United Methodist Church. Morris Helton, Truman Carter and Brett Burleson will officiate. Burial will follow in Kelley Cemetery.
Smith was born on Jan. 10, 1938, a son of Ezra Lee Smith and Willie Lee Robertson Smith; resident of Marion County, in the Winfield and Brilliant areas most of his life; previous resident of Eldridge before returning to Winfield; he was a retired self-employed upholsterer; and he was a member of Eldridge United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Rose Jones Smith; one adopted son, Rick Johnson; three sisters, Audrey Baumgartner, Wynonna Payne and Ella Jo Sewell; and three brothers, Junior, Bobby and Alfred Smith.
Survivors include one son, David L. Smith and his wife, Norma of Winfield; two grandsons, Aaron Bennett of Winfield and Andrew Neal “Andy” Bennett and his wife, Jennifer of Tampa, Fla.; great-grandchildren, David J. and Brittany Everwein, Bailey, Richard Andrew “Drew,” Marley and Jocelyn Bennett; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
