Jerry Kingsley, 72, of Jasper, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018, at home, surrounded by loved ones, after battling lung cancer.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Gathering Church, located at 8090 U.S. Highway 78 E., next to Warrior River bridge between Jasper and Sumiton.
Kingsley was born in Russellville on Oct. 24, 1946. Jerry served in the U.S. Army, fighting for our country in Vietnam. When he returned, he worked many years farming and eventually became a truck driver using the handle "J.K." until he retired. One of his favorite activities was being a devoted Alabama football fan. He will be missed by many.
Kingsley was preceded in death by his parents, Lunett and Carlin Burgett; and father, Lois Kingsley.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Barbara; daughters, Brenda Sanders, Sandra Hosmer and her husband, Randy, and Bobbie Jo Kingsley; grandchildren, Toni and Wesley Tucker, Malachi Kingsley-Campbell, Emma Grace Campbell, Larriann Sanders and Hannah Hosmer; great-grandchildren, Makayla and Alan Sickles; siblings, Mary Burgett, Jannie Mays and Nancy Dutton; best friend of 55 years, Odell Clemons; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
