Jean Samuels Fuentes, age 88, of Eldridge, passed away Thursday, April 12, 2018, at her residence. Jean was born in Bernie, MO on July 10, 1929 to the late William Henry and Hattie Elizabeth Pritchett McGee. She left school to support of the war effort while working in an airplane factory in St. Louis; but returned to school and earned her GED at the age of 43. She loved to paint and sew; and supported her family doing so sewing dolls. She was a member of Walk of Faith Ministries and one thing everyone knew is that she loved everyone.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Pejank” Samuels; two sons, Donald and Mark Mace; two grandsons, B.J. Kelley and Adam Powell; two brothers, Clifton J. Hampton and Robert McGee; and two sisters, Tena Bishop and Willetta McGee.
She is survived by five daughters, Pat Cagle and her husband, Toby of Brilliant, Jeanette Tucker and her husband, Gary (better known as “Goldie”) of Carbon Hill, Lisa German and her husband, Tony of Carbon Hill, Wendy Wagar and her husband, Chris of Eldridge, and Lori Gunter and her husband, Robert of Nauvoo; a step-daughter, Donna Ipock and her husband, Ron of Missouri; two “adopted” daughters, Connie Dodd of Eldridge and Brenda Tucker of Eldridge; 20 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 17 great-great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 15, at 3:00 p.m. from Homewood Full Gospel Church in Kansas. Burial will follow in Tidwell Chapel Cemetery, with Scott Batesole and Ben Lackey officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, at the church from 2:00 p.m. until time of service at 3:00.
