James Clifford “Big Jim” Swindle

James C. “Big Jim” Swindle was born in Wigrie, Ala., on September 2, 1936. He passed away Friday, March 3, 2020, at home.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Joyce Swindle, and his son, Kevin Jay Swindle.

Jim worked for Alabama Power for 36 years and six months. With only a high school education from West Jefferson High School and a few college courses, he worked his way from brush cutter on a line crew to senior design engineer, where he routed power lines. His work can be seen all over Alabama, including Corridor X.

He loved young people and for all of his adult life, he worked with youth at Forestdale Baptist Church and later Jasper’s First Baptist Church, leading many of them to faith in Jesus Christ. He was a devoted family man who stuck with his family through both good and bad times, and his loving smile as well as his great sense of humor will be surely missed. He was loyal to the end.
