Holiday basketball tournaments start today

Jasper, Sumiton Christian, Winston County hosting events

Jasper High School will host the Good Hands Christmas Tournament starting today at Carl Cannon Coliseum.

The three-day boys basketball tournament features a field of eight teams. Four games will be held each day. Today’s games begin at 10:30 a.m. with Carbon Hill (5-7) taking on Gardendale (8-5) at 10:30 a.m. In the second game of the day, Dora (6-7) plays Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa (10-4) at noon.

In the 1:30 p.m. game, Meek (11-5) takes on the Jasper JV team (7-1). In the final game of the day, Jasper (4-8) plays Fayette County (4-6) at 3 p.m.

Two consolation bracket games will be held at noon on Friday with winner’s games at 1:30 p.m. and 3 p.m.

The championship game is set for 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Sumiton Christian Holiday Classic

Sumiton Christian will host its holiday classic with four girls teams and four boys teams competing in the two-day event.

The tournament opens with a pair of girls games today.

At 3 p.m., Corner takes on Cordova, followed by Sumiton Christian vs. Oak Grove at 4:30 p.m.

Boys games start at 6 p.m. with Curry facing Westminster-Oak Mountain. Sumiton Christian takes the court in the final game of the day against Oak Grove at 7:30 p.m.

Four games will be held on Friday. The girls consolation game is set for 3 p.m. followed by the boys consolation at 4:30 p.m. The girls championship game tips off at 6 p.m. with the boys championship to follow at 7:30 p.m.

Winston County Girls Christmas Tournament

A strong field hits the court in Double Springs starting today in the Winston County Girls Christmas Tournament.

Of the eight teams in the three-day tournament, six have winning records.

Games start at noon today with Addison (9-4) playing Belgreen (10-2).

At 1:15 p.m., Curry (8-6) plays Decatur Heritage (8-5).

On the opposite side of the bracket, Vinemont (1-12) faces East Lawrence (3-10) at 2:30 p.m. The day ends with Winston County (11-2) playing Carbon Hill (11-4) at 3:45 p.m.

Games start at the same times on Friday with the winner’s bracket games set for 2:30 p.m. and 3:45 p.m.

On Saturday, the tournament championship game is set for 1:45 p.m.
