CORNER — The Corner Yellow Jackets came up just short against rival Hayden on Friday night, losing a 27-20 home decision in their region matchup.
Quarterback Colin Daniel had a big game for the Jackets, running for two touchdowns, but Hayden got a huge game from running back Carson Rickles, who picked up 145 yards and three touchdowns on 18 carries. Rickles scored Hayden’s first three touchdowns on runs of 26, 39 and 3 yards.
Hayden got what proved to be the game-winning score on a 67-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter to give the Wildcats a 27-20 lead.
Daniel had rushing touchdowns of 9 and 10 yards. Cameron Blalock also added a defensive score, returning an interception 40 yards for a touchdown to cut Hayden’s lead to 13-12 in the second quarter. The Wildcats led 20-12 at the half.
Corner (1-2, 1-1) plays at Alexandria next week.
