February 13, 1949 November 12, 2017Gary Dwight Key, 68, of Jasper, passed away Sunday, Nov. 12, 2017, at his residence after a long battle with cancer.
He was a graduate of Carbon Hill High School, served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. He worked in the coal mines for 21 years, and retired as a mine inspector after 17 years, as Chief Mine Inspector of State of Alabama.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017, at 3 p.m. in the Collins-Burke Chapel, with burial at Boldo Cemetery. Jimmy Collins will officiate.
Key was preceded in death by his father, Sammie Key Jr.; mother, Virgie Key; granddaughter, Josie Lambert; and niece, Amanda Rutledge.
He is survived by his wife, Debra S. Key of Jasper; daughter, Emily L. Lambert (Corey) of Jasper; sisters, Carolyn Rutledge (Eddie), Sandra Warren (Ronnie) and Dorothy Noles (Jerry); granddaughter, Grace Lambert; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Robinson, Frankie Duncan, Robert Cagle, Gerald Buzbee, Glenn Ferguson and Billy Chipps.
