Enterprise snaps Bevill State win streak

Posted

The Bevill State Bears’ red-hot eight-game winning streak came to a halt on Friday night following a 102-94 loss to the Enterprise State Boll Weevils at Glen Clem Gymnasium.

Miguel Williams led Bevill with 29 points, while Chris Freeman followed with 18 points and six rebounds. Wanya King scored 16 points, Nelson Haskin had 14 points with seven rebounds and seven blocks and Ed Weston contributed 10 points.

Down by 14 points near the end of the first half, Bevill State closed the scoring gap to just five points before the break, 46-41, with Enterprise State on top.

After trailing by double digits through most of the second half, the Bears (10-2) staged a rally with two minutes left, allowing Bevill State to close to within five points, but the Boll Weevils were able to connect on clutch free throw shows to clinch the 102-94 victory.

Bevill State travels to Marion Military Institute on Tuesday to begin North Division play.
