Elbert was a lifelong resident of Walker County where he owned and operated the Union Chapel Golf Course (now Valley Estates) for more than 30 years. He was a self-taught, self-made man. He graduated from Cordova High School in 1950 where he met his high school sweetheart, Willa Dean, who he married and remained devoted to for 68 years. His pleasure in life was providing for his wife and two sons, instilling in his sons a strong work ethic, a love of nature and just being outdoors. He was also an avid reader. His love of family carried over to his siblings, Garvie, Margaret, Julian and Francis. Talking with them and reminiscing about their earlier life together was a favorite pastime.

Camden and William Daniel; brothers, Julian (Evelyn) of Ooltewah, Tenn. and Francis (Zelda) of Chattanooga, Tenn., and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

He leaves to his family and especially his nine great grandchildren, a legacy of his
