When Jasper was in need of a victory this baseball season, Tyler Thomasson was happy to do his part for the Vikings.

The junior hurler closed out the season with a perfect 7-0 mark for head coach Patrick Ware. Thomasson finished the year with a 1.83 ERA and a 1.04 WHIP to go with his perfect record. In 38 1/3 innings, he allowed 30 hits and 10 walks while striking out 27.

Thomasson is the Eagle Elite Baseball Pitcher of the Year.

Thomasson, who also played third base for the Vikings, came through in some of the biggest moments of the season. With Jasper looking to lock up the Class 5A, Area 11 title, Thomasson went to the mound against Mortimer Jordan, leading the Vikings to a 7-5 victory.

In the opening round of the Class 5A state playoffs against Etowah, Thomasson kept Jasper’s season alive with a dominant performance in a Game 2 victory.

He went the distance against the Blue Devils, allowing three hits and one walk in seven innings in a 2-1 decision. Jasper’s season ended the following day in Game 3 of the series.

Offensively, Thomasson hit .239 with 15 RBIs and 22 runs scored.
