DORA — The Dora Bulldogs came up short in a hard fought game, falling 16-6 to Russellville at Horace Robert’s Field, on Senior Night.

Russellville rode the legs of Austin Ashley, who ran for 200 yard and one touchdown on 22 carries.

All the first half scoring came in the first quarter.

The Golden Tigers got on the board first at the 6:39 mark when quarterback Jacob Bishop raced 47 yards to pay dirt. Miguel Zavaleta kicked it to 7-0 for the visitors.

Dora (2-7, 0-7) wasted no time answering as quarterback Dee Wilkerson found Jayden McDavid for a 19-yard score. The PAT was blocked leaving Russellville with a 7-6 edge.

Both teams exchanged possessions in a scoreless second quarter.

Dora took the second-half kickoff and put together a 9-play drive to the Tigers 30 before a fumble ended the drive.

Russellville (7-2, 5-2) drove 70 yards in seven plays, capped by an 11-yard run by Ashley. The extra point was no good as the Tigers lead stood at 13-6 headed to the final frame.

After a Bulldogs’ three and out on their next possession, the Tigers marched to the Dora 6-yard line, but the Bulldog defense held, and Russellville had to settle for a 23-yard Zavaleta field goal and a 16-6 advantage.

Dora’s offense put together a 10-play fourth quarter drive led by Wilkerson, who combined for 136 yards on the night, but an interception of a tipped Bulldogs pass at the Tigers 12-yard line ended the final threat. Russellville ran out the clock to seal the win.

Senior Ikea Hosea added 50 yard rushing for the Dawgs. Dora will conclude the season next Friday night with a road trip to Fayette County. Russellville will conclude their regular season as they host Central Florence.
