Danny James “DJ” Bankston, 56, of Hogansville, Ga., passed away Friday, Feb. 9, 2018, at Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Newnan, Ga.
Bankston was born June 16, 1961, in Walker County, where he lived until making his home in Hogansville in 2010. He was employed as assistant manager of quality control at Kia Motors Manufacturing of Georgia. A member of Faith Baptist Church in LaGrange, Ga., he was an ordained minister and a longtime member and former youth pastor of Union Grove Baptist Church in Cordova. Bankston was an avid Auburn football fan, but caring for his family was the most important part of his life.
Survivors include his wife, Tracy Bankston of Hogansville; daughters and sons-in-law, Heather and Matt Jones of Jasper, Lynsey Bankston and Nick Costin of Cordova, Savannah and Jake Davidson of Valley and Candace Bankston of Hogansville; grandchildren, Bankston Jones, Chloe Jones, Kennedy Jones, Cranston Davidson; his parents, Vernon and Annette Bankston of Cordova; sister and brother in-law, Vicky and Wiley Hagood of Parrish, and their sons, Wade Hagood and Brandon Hagood.
A funeral service was conducted Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018, at Faith Baptist Church in LaGrange, Ga., with Dr. Donald Yancey officiating. A second funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2018, at Union Grove Baptist Church in Cordova, with the Rev. Johnny Franklin officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. today, Feb. 13, 2018, at Collins-Burke Funeral Home in Jasper.
