Jasper, Sumiton Christian, Meek play on road today

Curry's basketball teams return home tonight with an area championship on the line.

Both teams knocked off Cordova on Tuesday to set up tonight's championship games against Haleyville. Curry's girls open the night with a 5:30 p.m. tip-off with the boys game set for 7 p.m.

Tonight's winners hosts sub-region playoff games next week while the second-place teams travel.

In Tuesday's girls game, Curry got a huge effort from Abbey Moon, who had 21 points and 19 rebounds in a 54-33 win over Cordova.

Curry (17-11) split its two regular season games with Haleyville (13-15), winning 52-49 at home and losing 51-30 on the road. Haleyville hammered Fayette County 72-22 in its area tournament opener on Tuesday. The Lions are 9-1 since starting the season 4-14.

On the boys side, Curry (18-8) got a monster game from Jakob Hicks in a 54-39 win over Cordova on Tuesday. Hicks had 27 points and 12 rebounds.

Haleyville (9-18) earned a spot in today's game with a 54-52 win over Fayette County.

The Yellow Jackets are 15-3 in their last 18 games.
