Maggie Jones, a senior at the University of Alabama majoring in chemical engineering, was crowned the 2019 Miss Walker County Saturday night at Rowland Auditorium on the Jasper campus of Bevill State Community College.

Jones, the 21-year-od daughter of Charlie and Tonya Jones of Springville, was crowned by 2018 Miss Walker County Chassidy Sumler and won a $2,000 scholarship for winning the title.

“I’m so excited about winning this,” Jones said following Saturday’s pageant. “This is my first preliminary to compete in this year. I have always heard the community is great here, so I wanted to compete in Miss Walker County. And now I get to go back to Miss Alabama and represent Walker County. I’m so happy about that.”

Emma Owen of Argo, a freshman at UAB, was first runner-up; Meg McGuire of Muscle Shoals was second runner-up and Kelsie Trice of Thorsby was third runner-up.
