County BOE members honored

Members of the Walker County Board of Education were recognized for their service at a meeting of the board on Jan. 16.

Walker County Schools Superintendent Dr. Joel Hagood honored board members with a certificate in light of School Board Member Recognition Month, which is celebrated in school districts across the country. 

"I don't know that I could have a better board to work with and who each and every day do what's best for the children of the Walker County school system," Hagood said.

Brad Ingle serves as chairman of the Walker County Board of Education.

Trent Kennedy represents District 1 — Curry Elementary, Curry Middle and Curry High schools. 

Todd Vick is the representative for District 2 — Carbon Hill Elementary, Carbon Hill High and Lupton Jr. High schools.

District 3 is represented by Dr. Vonda Beaty — Bankhead Middle, Cordova Elementary, Cordova High, Oakman Elementary, Oakman High, Parrish Elementary and Valley Jr. High schools.

Lee Ann Headrick represents District 4 — Dora High, Sumiton Elementary and Sumiton Middle schools.
