CORDOVA — The Cordova Blue Devils wrapped up a second-consecutive Class 4A, Area 10 championship — and a top seed at the regional tournament — on Monday, beating the Dora Bulldogs in the title game, 10-0, in five innings at Cordova.

Blue Devils top Dora 10-0

CORDOVA — The Cordova Blue Devils wrapped up a second-consecutive Class 4A, Area 10 championship — and a top seed at the regional tournament — on Monday, beating the Dora Bulldogs in the title game, 10-0, in five innings at Cordova.

Both Cordova and Dora will play at the North Central Regional Tournament on Friday, May 11 at Bowers Park in Tuscaloosa.

In Monday’s area title game, Raven Clark recorded her second win of the day in the circle, giving up one hit and one walk, while striking out 10 batters in five innings.

At the plate for the Blue Devils, Abby Sargent went 2 for 3 with a run scored and an RBI, Anna Key was 1 for 3 with two runs scored, Jaqulyn Braswell went 1 for 2 with a double, a run scored and an RBI, MG Kilpatrick recorded a hit with a run scored, an RBI and two stolen bases, Marihope Stacks had a hit with a run scored and an RBI, Haley Hann scored a run with an RBI, Lilly Werling and Kaitlin Herron scored a run each, Meagan Hicks scored a run with two stolen bases and Emma Hyche stole a base.

In the loss for Dora, Hallie Roberts pitched two innings, while Kayleigh Patterson pitched two innings, striking out one batter.

Callie Simmons recorded a hit.

Dora 10, Good Hope 9

Hallie Roberts’ two-run walk-off single served as the game-winning hit in Dora’s 10-9 victory over the Good Hope Raiders, earning the Bulldogs a spot in the area title game and a berth in the region tournament.

Jaz Parker pitched the first six innings for Dora, giving up two earned runs and recording two strikeouts. Roberts pitched the final inning, recording two strikeouts.

Offensively, Simmons went 3 for 5 with two runs scored and an RBI, Patterson was 3 for 5 with two runs scored, Autumn Smith went 2 for 3 with an RBI, Fate Wright was 2 for 4 with two RBIs, Chelsey Henderson went 2 for 4 with a run scored, Roberts was 2 for 5 with a run scored, two doubles and four RBIs, Ally Reed went 2 for 5 with three runs scored and Sam Johnson had a hit with a run scored and two RBIs.

Cordova 6,

Good Hope 1

The Blue Devils clinched their first win of the tournament, 6-1, over Good Hope to advance to the championship game.

Clark gave up three hits, a run and three walks, while recording seven strikeouts in six innings for the Blue Devils.

At the plate, Kilpatrick went 3 for 4 with two runs scored, a double, a triple, an RBI and a stolen base, Herron was 3 for 4 with an RBI, Hyche went 2 for 4 with two runs scored, a double and an RBI, Sargent was 2 for 4 with an RBI, Key went 2 for 4 with an RBI and a stolen base, Hicks was 1 for 3 with an RBI, Braswell went 1 for 3 with a run scored and a stolen base and Clark scored a run.

Good Hope 10, Dora 1

Dora opened the day with a 10-1 loss to Good Hope, forcing the Bulldogs into elimination play.

Dixie Lauderdale pitched the first two-thirds inning for Dora, with Patterson finishing the final five and one-third innings, striking out two batters.

Offensively, Reed, Johnson, Smith, Crissy Stokes, Ashley Weldon and Taylor Lutu recorded a hit and Simmons had a double with a run scored.
