Church Happenings... Oct. 19 - Nov. 10


Local church events are featured each Wednesday and Saturday in the Daily Mountain Eagle, and daily on the calendar at Events are listed by calendar date and time as space allows. • Matthew Ministry Outreach/Soup kitchen is held every Friday at 11 a.m. at LifeSprings Assembly of God on Highway 195.

• Mt. Carmel Baptist Church on Horse Creek Blvd. in Cordova holds a Soup Kitchen every Tuesday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. 

• Boldo United Methodist Church holds a clothes closet the second Saturday of every month from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

• The Breast Cancer Support Group of Walker County is requesting that all churches participate in "Worship in Pink" Sunday on Oct. 20. All congregation members are asked to wear pink in support of those who are fighting breast cancer or in honor of those who are survivors.

• Calvary Baptist Church in Fayette will host a revival at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 21 and Oct. 28.


• Phillips Chapel will host a Singing at 6 p.m. featuring the group Eagle's Wing.

• Annual West Jasper Day will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the parking lot of Maranatha Baptist Church. Yard sale tables will be available. There will be a moon walk for children, face painting, and other events. Come early to set up tables. In case of rain, the event will be rescheduled. • Berry Civic Center will be hosting their Southern Gospel Concert at 6 p.m. This month's singers are The Calton's from Collingwood, Tenn., and The Busby Family from Berry. Admission is free, a love offering will be received.

• New Prospect Church will have a This & That Inside Sale at 8 a.m. in the Christian Life Center, 770 Hwy 5, Jasper.


• Union Chapel United Methodist Church will celebrate their 160 year Homecoming at 11 a.m. with preaching, singing, and then lunch. All attendees, members, former members, and past preachers invited.

• Hope for Women will be doing music and dance at Maranatha Baptist Church at the 11 a.m. worship service.

• Friendship Baptist Church in the Thach Community will celebrate their Homecoming with preaching at 11 a.m., covered dish lunch at noon, and a singing at 1 p.m.

• Hwy 5 Church of God will celebrate Pastor Appreciation Day for their Pastor Richard Harbin and First Lady Betty Harbin for 43 years of service at the same church.

• There will be a singing at Hunters Chapel at 5 p.m. featuring the group Anointed.

• Philadephia Deliverance Tabernacle on Hwy 13 between Eldridge and Natural Bridge will celebrate Pastor Appreciation Day starting at 10 a.m. with Jeff Smith Singers from Jackson, Tenn. Lunch served at noon.

OCT. 20-23

• Living Light Church of God will host CampMeeting on Sunday at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., and Monday-Wednesday at 7 p.m.

• Cedrum Grove Free Will Baptist Church in Carbon Hill will host a revival on Sunday with Sunday school at 10 a.m., worship service at 11 a.m., and evening service at 5 p.m. Service on Monday and Tuesday will begin at 7 p.m., and on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Evangelist Danny Williams will be speaking.


• The Encounter Men's Conference will be held at 7 p.m. at Dora Church of God. Guest speaker will be Pastor Greg Strickland (Northport COG) and worship will be led by the Northport COG Praise Team. Dinner will be provided following service. Donations accepted. Please RSVP to plan seating and food accordingly by calling 205-381-1374.


• Bethel Grace Assembly of God will host a Hallelujah Night from 6 until 8 p.m. There will be games and a chili cook-off.

• The Encounter Youth Group (of Carbon Hill COGOP) will host their youth service, Ignite, starting at 6 p.m. Come out for a night of worship, fellowship, and free food.

• Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Curry will host their free Fall Festival from 5 until 8 p.m. Activities include carnival rides, trunk or treat, bouncy house, and much more. 


• Union Chapel Baptist Church will celebrate "Old Fashioned Day" with regular service beginning at 9:45 a.m., lunch at noon, and a singing at 1 p.m. Guest singers will be Living Faith Quartet. Everyone welcome!

• Fall Festival at Townley First Baptist Church will start at 4:00 p.m. There will be a Hay Ride, Trunk or Treat, Soup and Chili, and Hot Dogs. Everyone Welcome.

• Herman Baptist Church will host their Fall Festival at 5 p.m. Food, games, and Trunk or Treat!

OCT. 27-30

• Berry Church of God at 390 County Road 30 East will host a revival on Sunday at 5 p.m. and Monday-Wednesday at 7 p.m. Bro. Jerry Trotter will be speaking.


• Living Light Church of God will host their Fall Festival starting at 6 p.m. Lots of fun and candy for the whole family.

• Living Light Church of God Fall Festival will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Trunk or Treat, games, bonfire, bouncy house, chili cook off, food, costume contest, hayride and much more. 


• Carbon Hill Church of God of Prophecy will host their Fall Festival starting at 6 p.m. Free food, prizes, and games for all ages.


• Prospect Independent Church in Nauvoo will host the fourth annual holiday bazaar from 8:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Lots of arts, crafts, jewelry, clothing and food. For more information contact Robin Odom at 205-471-2128.

• Winston County Gospel Music Theatre will host their 1st Saturday Night Singing starting at 6 p.m. featuring guest singers, "Inherited" from Cullman.


• Westside Baptist Church will celebrate their 94th Annual Homecoming with Bro. Jeff Champion speaking. Lunch will be served after service. Everyone welcome.
