Local church events are featured each Wednesday and Saturday in the Daily Mountain Eagle, and daily on the calendar at Events are listed by calendar date and time as space allows. • Matthew Ministry Outreach/Soup kitchen is held every Friday at 11 a.m. at LifeSprings Assembly of God on Highway 195.

• Boldo United Methodist Church holds a clothes closet the second Saturday of every month from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

• Greater Shiloh Baptist Church's bible study topic for July is "Organizing the Missions Department for Ministry and Missions."  Bilbe study is held every Wednesday at 6 p.m.


• Dutton Hill Missionary Baptist Church will host their VBS "Campout" from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Supper will be served at 5 p.m. For bus pickup or more information, contact Pastor Wayne Abbott at 205-300-6500.


• Freedom Assembly of God on Curry Hwy will host a Back to School Backpack Giveaway from 11 until 4 p.m. First 100 kids will receive a backpack with supplies. There will be inflatables, food, and other giveaways for all ages. Child will need to be present to receive supplies. For more information, call Melissa at 205-577-7039.

• Goodsprings Full Gospel Church will host their 75th Anniversary/Homecoming at 11 a.m. The Bowling Family will be the guest singers. For more information, call 205-686-9210.

JULY 28-31

• Arley Congregational Christian Church will host a revival on Sunday at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. with Bro. Rayburn speaking, and Monday-Wednesday at 7 p.m. with Bro. Morgan speaking.

JULY 29-31

• Living Light Church of God will host their 2019 Animal Safari Adventure Kids Crusade nightly from 6 until 8 p.m. Each night there will be crafts, food, door prizes, and the last night there will be games and prizes.  For ages 3-12.

• Aldersgate and Long Memorial United Methodist Churches will have a combined VBS "Partying with Jesus: A Biblical Trip through the Festivals" at Aldersgate Church for grades K-6th from 6 until 8 p.m. There will be nursery provided for younger children. AUG. 1-3

• Free clothes closet open from 4 until 7 p.m. on Aug. 1, and 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Aug. 2 and 3 to help get ready for back to school at Boldo UMC on Hwy 69 across from Dollar General. Call 205-388-2905 for more information. Clothes donations are accepted.


• Winston County Gospel Music Theater will host their Singing at 6 p.m. The Fowler Family from Fayette will be performing.

• Cedar Creek Church of Christ (6309 Tutwiler Rd., Oakman) will be hosting its 11th Annual “Stimulus Package For The Soul” in an effort to encourage young men to speak publicly and study God’s word. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. with a break at 10 a.m., and lunch at noon. For more information, please call Louis Perryman at 205 686 7565.


• Bethel Baptist Church (7000 Bethel Road, Dora) will host a singing starting at 6 p.m. featuring the Holy Destiny Quartet from Clanton.


• Homecoming at Townley First Baptist Church (228 Alabama Ave, Townley) at 10:30 a.m. The Page Trio will be singing and Jerry Edgil will preach in morning service. Fellowship Lunch will follow, and The Page Trio will sing again starting at 1:30 p.m.


• Samaria Baptist Church at 70 East Lake Road, just off the Industrial Parkway in Jasper, will have Jasper head football coach Bryan Moore speak at the 11 a.m. worship service prior to having a fourth Sunday free luncheon at noon. 

• Boldo UMC will host their Homecoming with services starting at 10:30 a.m. followed by a fellowship meal and singing afterward. Rev. Kevin Young will be the guest speaker.
