Church Happenings... July 24 - Aug 25


Local church events are featured each Wednesday and Saturday in the Daily Mountain Eagle, and daily on the calendar at Events are listed by calendar date and time as space allows. • Matthew Ministry Outreach/Soup kitchen is held every Friday at 11 a.m. at LifeSprings Assembly of God on Highway 195.

• Boldo United Methodist Church holds a clothes closet the second Saturday of every month from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

• Greater Shiloh Baptist Church's bible study topic for July is "Organizing the Missions Department for Ministry and Missions."  Bilbe study is held every Wednesday at 6 p.m.

JULY 24-25

• VBS at Curry Church of Christ nightly at 7 p.m. "Gone Fishing." Classes for all ages. Transportation available upon request by calling 205-387-7338

JULY 24-26

• Mount Zion Baptist Church (off of Fall City Road) will host their VBS from 5:30 until 8 p.m. nightly.

• Phillips Chapel Holy Church of Christ on Empire Road will host a revival nightly at 7 p.m. Charles Williams will be the evangelist.

JULY 25-27

• There will be a camp meeting at Homewood Full Gospel Church of God in Carbon Hill at 7 p.m. each night. Bro. Ron Day will be speaking.


• Dutton Hill Missionary Baptist Church will host their VBS "Campout" from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Supper will be served at 5 p.m. For bus pickup or more information, contact Pastor Wayne Abbott at 205-300-6500.


• Freedom Assembly of God on Curry Hwy will host a Back to School Backpack Giveaway from 11 until 4 p.m. First 100 kids will receive a backpack with supplies. There will be inflatables, food, and other giveaways for all ages. Child will need to be present to receive supplies. For more information, call Melissa at 205-577-7039.

JULY 29-31

• Living Light Church of God will host their 2019 Animal Safari Adventure Kids Crusade nightly from 6 until 8 p.m. Each night there will be crafts, food, door prizes, and the last night there will be games and prizes.  For ages 3-12.

• Aldersgate and Long Memorial United Methodist Churches will have a combined VBS "Partying with Jesus: A Biblical Trip through the Festivals" at Aldersgate Church for grades K-6th from 6 until 8 p.m. There will be nursery provided for younger children. • Winston County Gospel Music Theater will host their Singing at 6 p.m. The Fowler Family from Fayette will be performing.


• Homecoming at Townley First Baptist Church (228 Alabama Ave, Townley) at 10:30 a.m. The Page Trio will be singing and Jerry Edgil will preach in morning service. Fellowship Lunch will follow, and The Page Trio will sing again starting at 1:30 p.m.


• Samaria Baptist Church at 70 East Lake Road, just off the Industrial Parkway in Jasper, will have Jasper head football coach Bryan Moore speak at the 11 a.m. worship service prior to having a fourth Sunday free luncheon at noon.
