Events are listed by calendar date and time as space allows, so guarantee when or the number of days an event will run. The deadline to place an event is no later than noon Tuesday and Friday. SPECIAL NOTICE

Union Chapel United Methodist Church will change its Sunday morning worship service from 11 a.m. to 9 a.m., beginning Sunday, July 1.


Aldersgate United Methodist Church will change its Sunday morning worship service from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., beginning Sunday, July 1.

McCormack Cemetery Inc. in Dora requests that all flowers sitting on the ground at McCormack Cemetery be removed from gravesites no later than Sunday, July 1, for mowing. If not removed, the mowers will dispose of them.


SATURDAY, JUNE 16

Jasper Independent Methodist Church will host a gospel singing on Saturday, June 16, beginning at 2 p.m. Guest singers will be the Crump Family, Sandy and Steve Sides, Mary Jett, Sonny Hall, Steve Winters, Charles Black, Gail Winters, Rita and Makayla Hall, Alfred Hartley, Angie Woods, Wanda and Daniel Self, Don Painter, Talmadge Gravitt, Jim Foust and Hugh Shirley.


Berry Civic Center in Berry will host a Southern gospel singing Saturday, June 16, at 6 p.m. featuring special guest singers, Purpose from Haleyville, and the Busby Family from Berry. Admission is free. A love offering will be received. 


SUNDAY, JUNE 17

New Hope Holy Church of Christ on Rosehill Road in Nauvoo will have a Decoration Day Singing Sunday, June 17, 2018, at 10 a.m. with guest singers, Southern Image.


Rice’s Chapel Baptist Church in Campbellville will be celebrating Homecoming Sunday, June 17.  Lunch at noon. Singing at 1:15. Guest singers will be the Gospel Barn Quartet. 


Hunters Chapel Holy Church of Christ will have a singing Sunday, June 17, at 5 p.m. Guest singers will be Resurrection Trio.


MONDAY, JUNE 18

Mt. Vernon Baptist Church on Curry Highway in Jasper will host its VBS "Marketplace 29 A.D." June18-22, from 8:30–11:30 a.m. for children 4 years through 5th Grade. All activities will be outside at the recreated Marketplace from 29 A.D. Bible Story tent, craft tent, snack tents, music, food from biblical times, and more.


River of Living Water United Methodist Church at 1401 Jones Dairy Road will host VBS June 18-22 from 5:30 to 7:20 p.m. for toddlers to older youth. To pre-register, call (205) 387-7603 or register online at www.rolwumc.org.

TUESDAY, JUNE 19

Voice of Truth Worship Center at 791 2nd Ave. N.E. in Carbon Hill will host the Convention 2018 "Camping Meeting Days Are Here," Tuesday, June 19, through Friday, June 22, at 7 p.m. each night. Guest speaker for Tuesday, June 19, will be Joey and Jennifer Vick; and Wednesday - Friday, June 20-22,  will be Dr. Pat Hayes. There will be special guest musicians and singers each night, plus the V.O.T. Worship Team. Pastor E.J. Lowery and his congregation invites everyone to the event. SATURDAY, JUNE 23

Prospect Independent Methodist Church at 3505 Prospect Road in Nauvoo will host a Beans & Greens Dinner fundraiser on Saturday, June 23, at 4 p.m. at the church. Plates will be $5 and include beans, greens, slaw, cornbread and onion. For more information, contact Robin at 205-471-2128.

Lupton Baptist Church will host its VBS "Jungle River Adventure" June 24-29 from 6-8:30 p.m. for children ages 4-14. For more information, call Andrea Sexton at 205-522-1859. 


MONDAY, JUNE 25

Peace Baptist Church in Parrish will host its VBS June 25-27 at 9 a.m. each day. Refreshments will be served. Rev. Thedford Hudson, pastor.


WEDNESDAY, JULY 4

Sumiton Church of God is planning a Freedom Celebration "Freedom Fest 2018" on Wednesday, July 4, at 7 p.m. on the Sumiton Christian School Football Field next to the Sumiton Church of God Family Life Center. There will be food, fireworks, inflatables and more.


Prospect Independent Methodist Church at 3505 Prospect Road in Nauvoo will have revival services beginning Friday, July 6, at 6 p.m.; Saturday, July 7, at 5 p.m. dinner and 6 p.m. worship; and Sunday, July 8, at 7 p.m. Guest speaker will be Chad Beavers.
