Samaria Baptist Church is now offering Christian Counseling Services. Anyone interested can call 205-522-3662 or email for more information.

McCormack Cemetery Inc. in Dora requests that all flowers sitting on the ground at McCormack Cemtery be removed from gravesites by no later than Sunday, July 1. If not removed, the grass mowers will dispose of them.


Matthews Ministries Outreach & Lifesprings Assembly of God on Alabama Highway 195 North in Jasper have teamed up to host a BBQ Fundraiser on Saturday, June 9, from 8 a.m. until all plates are gone. Singing, praise and worship, and human videos for the kids. Plates are $7.50 each and include BBQ meat, baked beans, potato salad, dessert and BBQ bread. To pre-order, call 205-522-2516.


Hatt Church of Christ at 9430 Alabama Hwy. 269 S. in Parrish will host an Apologetics Seminar on Sunday, June 10, Decoration Day, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., and Monday, June 11, from 6 until 7 p.m. Guest speaker will be Nathan Liddelll of Apologia Institute. For more information, call 205-686-7446.

Goodsprings Missionary Baptist Church will have a Revival Celebration June 10-13, with evangelist, Don Savell. Service times will be Sunday at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.; and Monday - Wednesday at 7 p.m. each night. For more information, call Pastor Charles Harbison at 205-483-7716.

Jasper's First Baptist Church at 1604 4th Ave. S. in Jasper will host its second annual Community "Holy Smoke" BBQ and Cruise-In on Sunday, June 10, from 3 until 6 p.m. in the church parking lot. The event is free and will feature all types of vehicles, grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, and Conecuh Sausage, desserts, inflatables, games, music and prizes.

Blooming Grove Baptist Church will host its VBS Kickoff on Sunday, June 10, at 4:30 p.m. at the church. VBS will be held June 10-14 from 5:45 until 8:30 p.m. each night.

Farmstead Baptist Church at 265 Curry Highway, will host Vacation Bible School from June 10-15 from  6 to 8:30 p.m. each night. For more information, call 205-384-3501.


Westside Baptist Church will host its Back Yard Bible Club Monday-Wednesday, June 11-3, from 6 until 8 p.m. each night.

New Zion Baptist Church on Carbon Hill/Nauvoo Road will host VBS June 11-15 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. each day. Meals will be served for kids from 5 to 5:45 p.m., and Family Night will be held Friday, June 15, at 6 p.m. 

First Baptist Church at 2701 Corona Avenue in Jasper will host VBS June 11-13 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.


Northside Baptist Church of Jasper's Merry Hearts Senior Group will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, June 12, at 10 a.m., due to Vacation Bible School. The group will return to its regular meeting schedule on the first Tuesday of each month in July.


Jasper Independent Methodist Church will host a gospel singing on Saturday, June 16, beginning at 2 p.m. Guest singers will be the Crump Family, Sandy and Steve Sides, Mary Jett, Sonny Hall, Steve Winters, Charles Black, Gail Winters, Rita and Makayla Hall, Alfred Hartley, Angie Woods, Wanda and Daniel Self, Don Painter, Talmadge Gravitt, Jim Foust and Hugh Shirley.

Berry Civic Center in Berry will host a Southern gospel singing Saturday, June 16, at 6 p.m. featuring special guest singers, Purpose from Haleyville, and the Busby Family from Berry. Admission is free. A love offering will be received. 


New Hope Holy Church of Christ on Rosehill Road in Nauvoo will have a Decoration Day Singing Sunday, June 17, 2018, at 10 a.m. with guest singers, Southern Image.

Rice’s Chapel Baptist Church in Campbellville will be celebrating Homecoming Sunday, June 17.  Lunch at noon. Singing at 1:15. Guest singers will be the Gospel Barn Quartet. 


Mt. Vernon Baptist Church on Curry Highway in Jasper will host its VBS "Marketplace 29 A.D." June18-22, from 8:30–11:30 a.m. for children 4 years through 5th Grade. All activities will be outside at the recreated Marketplace from 29 A.D. Bible Story tent, craft tent, snack tents, music, food from biblical times, and more.

River of Living Water United Methodist Church at 1401 Jones Dairy Road will host VBS June 18-22 from 5:30 to 7:20 p.m. for toddlers to older youth. To pre-register, call (205) 387-7603 or register online at

Townley Church of God on Alabama Hwy. 102 in Townley will host its VBS "SonSpark Lab" June 18-22 from 6-8 p.m. Will also have adult classes. For more information, call 205-522-2920.


Lupton Baptist Church will host its VBS "Jungle River Adventure" June 24-29 from 6-8:30 p.m. for children ages 4-14. For more information, call Andrea Sexton at 205-522-1859. 


Sumiton Church of God is planning a Freedom Celebration "Freedom Fest 2018" on Wednesday, July 4, at 7 p.m. on the Sumiton Christian School Football Field next to the Sumiton Church of God Family Life Center. There will be food, fireworks, inflatables and more.
