Upcoming church happenings, gospel singings and cemetery cleanings/meetings will be featured each Wednesday and Saturday in the Daily Mountain Eagle, and daily on the Community Calendar at www.mountaineagle.com. Events are listed free of charge. They are listed by calendar date and time as space allows, so there is no guarantee when or the number of days an event will run. Events are only accepted from local churches, faith-based ministries or organizations, and cemetery associations. SPECIAL NOTICES

Steadman Cemetery on Alabama Highway 124 in Townley: Please remove all old flowers by Sunday, April 1, for mowing.

Pleasant Grove Cemetery on Pleasant Grove Road in Oakman: please remove all old flowers by Sunday, April 1, for mowing. 

Mt. Joy Cemetery on Smith Lake Dam Road in Curry will be moved on Saturday, April 7. Please remove all old flowers before this date. Decoration will be Sunday, April 22.

Boldo Cemetery Association asks that all flowers be removed from graves by Saturday, April 28. Clean-up starts at 7 a.m.


Gibson Hill Cemetery Committee will hold a community meeting Saturday, April 21, at 11 a.m. at the Gibson Hill Church on Fayette County Road 83. Anyone with family buried at the cemetery is being asked to attend. WEDNESDAY, APRIL 4

Maranatha Baptist Church at the intersection of Josephine and Barker streets  in Jasper will have its soup kitchen open each Wednesday and Friday beginning at 11 a.m. each day. The church will offer a free meal to those in need.

Aldersgate United Methodist Church on U.S. Highway 78 in Dora will host a New Mother’s Support Group for new and expecting mothers each Wednesday from 5:30–7:30 p.m. at the church. Topics will include infant feeding, sleep, play/development, returning to work and managing stress. For more information, call  205-648-2470.

Union Grove Church on Winston County Road 8 in the Black Pond community host a Community Supper each Wednesday from 5:30 until 6:30 p.m. in the church's fellowship hall. For more information, call the church's pastor, Mickey Millican, at 205-522-1000.

Bethel Grace Assembly of God will host a Community Supper each Wednesday from 6 until 6:45 p.m. at the church. For more information, call Kat at 205-544-2302.


THURSDAY, APRIL 5

Philadelphia Deliverance Tabernacle on Alabama Highway 13 in Lynn, between Eldridge and Natural Bridge, will have revival services Thursday-Friday, April 5-6, at 7 p.m. nightly, with guest evangelist, Kenny Morris from Ellisville, Miss. FRIDAY, APRIL 6

Dovertown Cemetery Committee has requested any flowers, or other items you wish to keep, please be removed from gravesites before Friday, April 6. Decoration will be Sunday, April 15. Donations for cemetery upkeep may be mailed to Dovertown Cemetery Fund, 790 Jent Road, Cordova, AL 35550.

SATURDAY, APRIL 7

Copeland Ferry Church of God at 16255 Alabama Highway 269 S. in Quinton will have its clothes/household items closet open on the first Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. until noon, beginning Saturday, April 7. All items are free to the public. For more information, call Joe Ann at 205-260-8810.

The Church at Beech Grove at 347 Beech Grove Rd. in Townley will host a singing the first Saturday of each month at 5 p.m., featuring special guest singers. A love offering will be received to help with the upkeep of the church building. For more information, call John Cooner at 275-7823.

Winston County Gospel Theater (formerly Looney’s Tavern) on Alabama Highway 278 near Houston will hosts a gospel singing the first Saturday of each month at 6 p.m., featuring special guest singers, the Busby Family from Berry.

Peace Baptist Church in Parrish will celebrate its 99th Church Anniversary on Sunday, April 8, at 3 p.m. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Brian Savage from the 26th Street Baptist Church in Jasper.

Shady Grove Baptist Church at 155 Shady Grove Road in Parrish will host the first pastorial anniversary of its pastor, the Rev. Terrance J. Gaines and First Lady Jackie Gaines on Sunday, April 8, at 3 p.m. Guest speaker will be Pastor Alonzo Harper of the Corona Avenue First Baptist Church in Jasper.


SATURDAY, APRIL 14

Boldo Methodist Church on Alabama Highway 69 North (across from the Dollar General) in Jasper will host a free clothes closet giveaway the second Saturday of each month from 8 a.m. until noon at the church.

Aldersgate United Methodist Church on U.S. Highway 78 in Dora will host the “Joy In Jesus” program for those with special needs, and their parents, on the second Saturday of each month from 4 until 6 p.m. at the church. SUNDAY, APRIL 15

Grace Missionary Baptist Church on Alabama Highway 69 North in Boldo will have revival services Sunday, April 15, at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., and Monday, April 16, through Wednesday, April 18, at 7 p.m. nightly. Guest evangelist will be Randy Taylor.


MONDAY, APRIL 16

Carbon Hill Presbyterian Church at 227 N.W. 3rd Ave. in Carbon Hill will have a Swamp John’s Dinner Fundraiser on Monday, April 16, from 4 until 7 p.m. at the church. $11 per plate. Dine-in or take-out.


SATURDAY, APRIL 21

New Prospect Baptist Church on Alabama Highway 5 North in Jasper will have its food closet open from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. the third Saturday of every month.

River of Living Water United Methodist Church will have its “Feed My Sheep” Food Bank the third Saturday of each month from 10 until 11:30 a.m. at its Durr’s Chapel campus.

Berry Civic Center in Berry hosts a Southern gospel singing the third Saturday of each month at 6 p.m., featuring special guest singers each month. Admission is free. A love offering will be received.


SUNDAY, APRIL 22

First Baptist Church of Frisco located at 2701 Corona Avenue in Jasper will have their annual  Spring Church in the Street Worship Service on April 22.  Sunday School will begin at 2 p.m. inside and the worship service begins at 3:30 outside.  Rev. Jerry Wilson from Dry Creek Baptist Church from Foster, AL will bring the message.  Contact Pastor A. L. Harper for more information at 205-310-1915. 

Bethel Baptist Church located at 7000 Bethel Road in  Dora will have Bro. Robert “Bunkey” Smith, Director of Missions of the Muscle Shoals Baptist Association in Moulton,  in revival Sunday, April 22nd  at  10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. and  Monday,  April 23-25  at 7 pm. Childcare provided. Bro. Bunkey will be leading a Bible study (lunch provided by the church,) Monday-Wednesday at 10:30 am. The Bible Study is from 1 Thessalonians 5:10-24, “Christian Commandments: While Waiting on The Lords’ Return.” No childcare provided for this event.

Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church will have its quarter singing son Sunday, April 22, with guest singers, Crains' Nest. Regular church services will be at 9:45 a.m. and 10:45 a.m., with lunch at noon, and singing at 1 p.m. 


WEDNESDAY, APRIL 25

Living Light Church of God at 3420 N. Airport Rd. in Jasper will host its monthly “Night of Passion” service the last Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. at the church.


SATURDAY, APRIL 28

Living Light Church of God at 3420 North Airport Road in Jasper will host its 4th Annual "Rust to Riches" Car Show on Saturday, April 28, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Registration will be $20 per car; $25 per vendor. Money Tree, a 50/50 pot, an auction, karaoke, Bar-B-Q, snacks, fried pies, drinks and music. Will also be drawing for a Henry Big Boy Carbine457/38SPL ($20 donation is required to be eligible); and a Fire Pit/Grill ($2 donation is required to be eligible or 6 for $10.) 


SUNDAY, APRIL 29

Snowtown Baptist Church, located at 5960 Flat Top Road in Dora, will host a 5th Night Singing on Sunday, April 29, at 5 p.m. Guest singers will be Angie Requena and family. Refreshments will be served afterwards.  


SUNDAY, MAY 6

Pleasant Grove Church near Oakman will have Decoration on Sunday, May 6. Singing from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., with guest singers EverPraySing and the Awakened Quartet. Dinner on the ground from noon until 1 p.m. For more information, call Richard Phillips at 205-388-9912.
