Upcoming church happenings, gospel singings and cemetery cleanings/meetings will be featured each Wednesday and Saturday in the Daily Mountain Eagle, and daily on the Community Calendar at www.mountaineagle.com. Events are listed free of charge. They are listed by calendar date and time as space allows, so there is no guarantee when or the number of days an event will run. Events are only accepted from local churches, faith-based ministries or organizations, and cemetery associations. SPECIAL NOTICES


Carbon Hill Cemetery Committee will be taking sealed bids for grass cutting for the new cemetery and the Old Pisgah Cemetery through Monday, March 26. Bids may be dropped off at the Carbon Hill City Hall or mailed to P.O. Box 723, Carbon Hill, AL 35549.


SATURDAY, MARCH 24


Jasper First Church of the Nazarene at 400 14th Ave. W. in Jasper will host a "Great Easter Hoppening" on Saturday, Saturday, March 24, from noon until 3 p.m. at the church. Event will feature bounce houses/slides, games, face painting, giveaways, cotton candy, snow cones, popcorn, hotdogs and chips, and an Easter Egg Hunt. Plus pictures with the Easter Bunny.  


Townley Community Center will host a benefit gospel singing on Saturday, March 24, from 5:30 –8 p.m., featuring Daniel Self, Born To Fly, and the Busby Family.  Proceeds will go toward the second phase of the TCC renovation.


SUNDAY, MARCH 25


St. Mary's Episcopal Church at 801 The Trace W. in Jasper will have the following Holy Week events on Sunday, March 25: Sunday School at 9 a.m. - "Letter from the Birmingham Jail;" and Palm Sunday Service at 10 a.m. - Liturgy of the Palms (special procession led by bagpiper) and a dramatic reading of the Passion by the church's youth. 


New Prospect Baptist Church on Alabama Highway 5 North in Jasper will host a "Glow In The Dark" Easter Egg Hunt Sunday, March 25 at 4 p.m. in the church's Christian Life Center. 


MONDAY, MARCH 26


New Hope Holy Church of Christ at 3911 Rosehill Road in Nauvoo will have revival services Monday, March 26, – Wednesday, March 28, at 7 p.m. nightly, with guest evangelist Junior Garmon.


WEDNESDAY, MARCH 28


Living Light Church of God at 3420 N. Airport Rd. in Jasper will host its monthly “Night of Passion” service the last Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. at the church.

St. Mary's Episcopal Church at 801 The Trace W. in Jasper will host its Maundy Thursday Dinner at 6 p.m. in the Parish Hall and Maundy Thursday Service at 7 p.m., featuring Eucharist and Stripping of the Altar.

St. Mary's Episcopal Church at 801 The Trace W. in Jasper will have its Good Friday Service on Friday, March 30, at 7 p.m., featuring Eucharist from reserved sacrament. 


Aiken Grove Baptist Church on Sipsey Road in Sipsey will present the Easter Canata "At The Cross" on Friday,  March 30, at 6:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served.


SATURDAY, MARCH 31


Westside Baptist Church at 1101 West 22nd St. in Jasper will host a Children's Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 31, from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. for ages  up through fifth grade. There will be cotton candy, snow cones, popcorn, soft drinks, games and fun for everyone. In case of rain, games will be held in the gym. Kids need to bring their baskets. Hope House Church at 1602 10th Ave. in Jasper will present the Easter drama "Found" on Saturday, March 31, at 6 p.m. 


St. Mary's Episcopal Church at 801 The Trace W. in Jasper will host The Great Vigil of Easter on Saturday, March 31, at 7 p.m., featuring Baptism and Festal Holy Eucharist followed by reception.

Friendship Baptist Church on Alabama Highway 195 North in the Thach community will hold an Easter Sunrise Service on Sunday, April 1, at 7 a.m. , with breakfast following the service. There will be no evening service.  


Saragossa Baptist Church Men's Prayer Group meets each Sunday at 9:30 a.m. at the church.


River of Living Water United Methodist Church at 1401 Jones Dairy Road in Jasper will host an Easter Egg Hunt on Sunday, April 1, at 10 a.m. Join them during the Sunday School hour and stay for worship service at 11 a.m. For more information, call 205-387-7603.


St. Mary's Episcopal Church at 801 The Trace W. in Jasper will have its Easter Sunday Service on Sunday, April 1, at 10 a.m., featuring Festal Holy Eucharist followed by reception and Easter Egg Hunt.


New Bethany Full Gospel Church of God on Dogtown Road, between Carbon Hill and Nauvoo, will have its Homecoming on Sunday, April 1, at 10 a.m., with lunch at noon and singing in the afternoon. Guest singers will be Crains Nest.


Hope House Church at 1602 10th Ave. in Jasper will have its Easter Worship Service on Sunday, April 1 at 10 a.m.

Hope House Church at 1620 10th Ave. in Jasper will host its “Fishes & Loaves” soup kitchen each Monday at 11 a.m. and Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., with a worship service following the meal.


Nauvoo United Methodist Church on Third Avenue in Nauvoo hosts AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) and NA (Narcotics Anonymous) meetings each Monday and Friday at 6 p.m. at the church.


Nauvoo Church of God will host NA (Narcotics Anonymous) and AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) One Step Group meetings each Monday from 6 until 7 p.m. at the church. Meals provided.


Saragossa Baptist Church Women’s Prayer Group will meet each Monday at 7 p.m. at the church.


TUESDAY, APRIL 3

St. Mary’s Episcopal Church at 801 The Trace in Jasper will host a Caregivers Support Group meeting each Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the library at the church. This group is open to the community and is for people who provide care to loved ones dealing with chronic illness.


Carbon Hill United Methodist Church at 178 Northwest 4th Ave. hosts a Celebrate Recovery each Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.


Awakening Life Church on Alabama Highway 257 in Jasper holds a CelebrateLIFE recovery and restoration accountability and support group meeting each Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the church. WEDNESDAY, APRIL 4

Maranatha Baptist Church at the intersection of Josephine and Barker streets  in Jasper will have its soup kitchen open each Wednesday and Friday beginning at 11 a.m. each day. The church will offer a free meal to those in need.


Aldersgate United Methodist Church on U.S. Highway 78 in Dora will host a New Mother’s Support Group for new and expecting mothers each Wednesday from 5:30–7:30 p.m. at the church. Dovertown Cemetery Committee has requested any flowers, or other items you wish to keep, please be removed from gravesites before Friday, April 6. Decoration will be Sunday, April 15. Donations for cemetery up-keep may be mailed to Dovertown Cemetery Fund, 790 Jent Road, Cordova, AL 35550.

Mt. Joy Cemetery on Smith Lake Dam Road in Curry will be moved on Saturday, April 7. Please remove all old flowers before this date. Decoration will be Sunday, April 22.

Shady Grove Baptist Church at 155 Shady Grove Road in Parrish will host the first Pastorial Anniversary of its Pastor, Rev. Terrance J. Gaines and First Lady Jackie Gaines on Sunday, April 8, at 3 p.m. Guest speaker will be Pastor Alonzo Harper of the Corona Avenue First Baptist Church in Jasper.

Boldo Methodist Church on Alabama Highway 69 North (across from the Dollar General) in Jasper will host a free clothes closet giveaway the second Saturday of each month from 8 a.m. until noon at the church.


Aldersgate United Methodist Church on U.S. Highway 78 in Dora will host the “Joy In Jesus” program for those with special needs, and their parents, on the second Saturday of each month from 4–6 p.m. at the church. River of Living Water United Methodist Church will have its “Feed My Sheep” Food Bank the third Saturday of each month from 10 until 11:30 a.m. at its Durr’s Chapel campus.


Berry Civic Center in Berry hosts a Southern gospel singing the third Saturday of each month at 6 p.m. featuring special guest singers and the Busby Family from Berry. Admission is free. A love offering will be received.

Living Light Church of God at 3420 North Airport Road in Jasper will host its 4th Annual "Rust to Riches" Car Show on Saturday, April 28, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Registration will be $20 per car; $25 per vendor. Money Tree, a 50/50 pot, an auction, karaoke, Bar-B-Q, snacks, fried pies, drinks and music. Will also be drawing for a Henry Big Boy Carbine457/38SPL ($20 donation is required to be eligible); and a Fire Pit/Grill ($2 donation is required to be eligible or 6 for $10.)
