Upcoming church happenings, gospel singings and cemetery cleanings/meetings will be featured each Wednesday and Saturday in the Daily Mountain Eagle, and daily on the Community Calendar at www.mountaineagle.com. Events are listed free of charge. They are listed by calendar date and time as space allows, so there is no guarantee when or the number of days an event will run. Events are only accepted from local churches, faith-based ministries or organizations, and cemetery associations. WEDNESDAY, JAN. 3

Maranatha Baptist Church at 1701 Barker St. in Jasper will have its Soup Kitchen open on Wednesdays and Fridays beginning at 11 a.m. each day. The church offers a free full-meal to those in need.

THURSDAY, JAN. 4

Sipsey Church of God on Pineywoods-Sipsey Road in Jasper will host a Celebrate Recovery meeting each Thursday. Dinner served at 6:30 p.m., with the program beginning at 7 p.m. For more information, contact Pastor Jeffrey M. Long at 205-275-4318.

FRIDAY, JAN. 5

Matthew Ministries Outreach will have its Soup Kitchen open each Friday at 11 a.m. at Lifesprings Assembly of God Church located at 2686 Alabama Highway 195 N. in Jasper. For more information, call 205-522-5599 or 205-522-2516.

SATURDAY, JAN. 6

The Church at Beech Grove at 347 Beech Grove Rd. in Townley will host a singing the first Saturday of each month at 5 p.m., featuring special guest singers, the Busby Family. Offering will be received to help with the upkeep of the church building. For more information, contact John Cooner at 275-7823.

Winston County Gospel Theater (formerly Looney’s Tavern) on Alabama Highway 278 near Houston will hosts a gospel singing the first Saturday of each month at 6 p.m., featuring special guest singers, the Page Trio.

SUNDAY, JAN. 7

Saragossa Baptist Church Mens Prayer Group meets each Sunday at 9:30 a.m. at the church.

Victory Assembly of God holds its Breaking Free meetings for those struggling with addictions each Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the church. For more information, call Jaye Trayal at 205-275-9974.

Blooming Grove Baptist Church on Blooming Grove Road in Curry will host its Bi-annual County-wide Celebrate Recovery, Jan. 7, at the church, with a dinner at 4:30 p.m., and praise and worship at 5:30 p.m. Sam Turner will be the guest speaker and share his testimony.

First Baptist Church of Jasper holds aCelebrate Recovery program each Sunday at 5 p.m. in the fellowship hall at the church. The community is invited. For more information, please contact the church at 205-221-6444.

MONDAY, JAN. 8

Nauvoo United Methodist Church on Third Avenue in Nauvoo hosts AA (Alcoholic Anonymous) and NA (Narcotics Anonymous) meetings each Monday and Friday at 6 p.m. at the church.

Saragossa Baptist Church Women’s Prayer Group will meet each Monday at 7 p.m. at the church.

SATURDAY, JAN. 13

Boldo Methodist Church on Alabama Highway 69 North (across from the Dollar General) in Jasper will host a Free Clothes Closet Give-a-way on the second Saturday of each month from 8 a.m. until noon at the church, for people who need clothes or shoes.

SUNDAY, JAN. 14

Townley First Baptist Church at 228 Alabama Ave. in Townley will have a revival service Sunday, Jan. 14. Free soup and chili supper at 5 p.m. Worship will start at 6 p.m. David Miller will be preaching. Townley FBC Drama Team and Edgil Grove Youth Drama Team will perform. Church’s pastor is Wayne Page.

New Prospect Baptist Church at 770 Alabama Highway 5 N. in Jasper will host special guest singers, New Ground, in concert Sunday, Jan. 14, at 5 p.m. A love offering will be taken. Howard Thompson is Pastor.

Berry Civic Center in Berry hosts a Southern gospel singing the third Saturday of each month at 6 p.m. featuring special guest singers. Admission is free, but a love offering will be received.
