Upcoming church happenings, gospel singings and cemetery cleanings/meetings will be featured each Wednesday and Saturday in the Daily Mountain Eagle, and daily on the Community Calendar at www.mountaineagle.com. Events are listed free of charge. They are listed by calendar date and time as space allows, so there is no guarantee when or the number of days an event will run. Events are only accepted from local churches, faith-based ministries or organizations, and cemetery associations. St. Mary’s Episcopal Church at 801 The Trace in Jasper has a new Sunday morning and Wednesday night schedule. The new Sunday Morning schedule will be: 8:30 a.m. - breakfast; 9 a.m. - Children’s Formation - Godly Play and Adult Formation - Top 10 Reasons to Be an Episcopalian (led by the Rev. Robin H. Hinkle); 10 a.m. - Sunday Service/Children’s Chapel; and 11 a.m. - Coffee Hour. Highway 5 Church of God on Alabama Highway 5 North in Jasper will have Homecoming services Sunday, Sept. 24, beginning with morning worship, lunch at noon and singing in the afternoon. Guest speaker will be Perry Hart, the Church of God State Administrative Bishop. Guest singers at the morning service and afternoon singing will be New Ground.

Friendship Baptist Church at Thach will have Homecoming services Sunday, Sept. 24, with the morning service at 11 a.m., a covered dish lunch at noon, and singing at 1 p.m. Guest singers will be the Henson Southern Gospel Group from Moulton.

Dilworth Church of God at 3688 Hull Road in Empire will have revival services with Rev. Jerry Trotter on Sunday-Wednesday, Sept. 24-27. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Jeremy Kirk of White Street Baptist Church in Auburn.

Blooming Grove Baptist Church on Blooming Grove Road in Curry will host an outdoor benefit singing on Sunday, Sept. 24, from 47 p.m. for Angela Dickerson to help her with medical expenses. Singers and choirs from Living Light Church of God, Abundant Life Church of God, Pleasantfield Baptist Church, Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Eastside Baptist Church, Aldridge Community Baptist Church and Philadelphia Baptist Church will be performing. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets. Carbon Hill Cemetery Committee will hold a cleanup day Saturday, Oct. 7, beginning at 8 a.m. at the Old Pisgah Cemetery in Carbon Hill.

Winston County Gospel Theater (formerly Looney’s Tavern) on Alabama Highway 278 near Houston will hosts a gospel singing the first Saturday of each month at 6 p.m. The feature singers for October will be The Caltons from Collinwood, Tenn.

OCT. 8

New Prospect Baptist Church at 770 Alabama Highway 5 N. in Jasper will have special guest singers, New Ground, in concert Sunday, Oct. 8, at 5 p.m. in the church’s Christian Life Center. A love offering will be taken.

OCT. 14

Boldo Methodist Church on Alabama Highway 69 North (across from the Dollar General) in Jasper will host a Free Clothes Closet Give-a-way on the second Saturday of each month from 8 a.m. until noon at the church, for people who need clothes or shoes.

The Church at Beech Grove at 347 Beech Grove Rd. in Townley hosts a singing Saturday, Oct. 14, at 6 p.m., featuring congregational singing and special guest singer, Lesilee Burkett.
