Upcoming church happenings, gospel singings and cemetery cleanings/meetings will be featured each Wednesday and Saturday in the Daily Mountain Eagle, and daily on the Community Calendar at www.mountaineagle. com. Events are listed free of charge. They are listed by calendar date and time as space allows, so there is no guarantee when or the number of days an event will run. Events are only accepted from local churches, faith-based ministries or organizations, and cemetery associations. TODAY, JULY 12

Townley Church of God at 1400 Alabama Highway 102 in Townley will host its Vacation Bible School, “Son West Roundup,” today, July 12, through Friday, July 14, from 6 until 7 p.m. for children ages 2 - 12.

FRIDAY, JULY 14

First Presbyterian Church in Jasper will host a ladies’ retreat Friday, July 14, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, July 15, from 9 a.m. to noon. The fee is $15 and includes dessert on Friday night and lunch on Saturday. Sheila Nasekos will speak on “God’s Outrageous Love” in both sessions. EASTSIDE BAPTIST CHURCH on Viking Drive in Jasper will present Ivan Parker in concert Friday, July 14, at 7 p.m. at the church.

SATURDAY, JULY 15

Dutton Hill Baptist Church will open its clothes closet Saturday, July 15, at 8 a.m. Food bank will not be open in July.

Berry Civic Center in Berry will host a Southern gospel concert Saturday, July 15, at 6 p.m. Featured singers will be the Caltons from Collinwood, Tenn. and the Busby Family from Berry. Admission is free. A love offering will be received.

SUNDAY, JULY 16

Old Zion United Methodist Church at 1463 Old Zion Rd. (off Alabama Highway 5, seven miles north of Jasper) in Nauvoo will host its Vacation Bible School Family Day on Sunday, July 16, at 11 a.m. During the service, parents will have a chance to see what their children have learned during Vacation Bible School and hear a word from Pastor David Hearn. The children will also receive their certificates of participation. Lunch will be provided after the service.

Jasper’s First Baptist Church at 1604 4th Ave. S. in Jasper will hold a Holy Smoke BBQ Cook-off and Car Show on Sunday, July 16, from 3 until 6 p.m. The free event will include food, tailgate games and prizes.

Hunters Chapel Church of Christ will have a singing Sunday, July 16, at 5 p.m., with special guest singers, the Stephens Family.

MONDAY, JULY 17

Westside Baptist Church in Jasper will host its Backyard Bible Club Monday-Wednesday, July 17-19, from 6-8 p.m. each night.

THURSDAY, JULY 20

Cedar Hill Baptist Church on the Old Parrish Highway (off Alabama Highway 269 South) in Parrish, will have its monthly food bank Thursday, July 20, from 10 a.m. until noon at the church.

SATURDAY, JULY 22

Townley First Baptist Church at 228 Alabama Ave. in Townley will host the Page Trio Homecoming, featuring the Lovelace Family, on Saturday, July 22, at 6 p.m. Free admission. A love offering will be taken. For more information, call 205-384-3274.

Good Hope Baptist Church, located on old Highway 78 near Sayre Speedway, will host a one-day VBS on Saturday, July 22 from 8 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. A parents program will begin at 3:15 p.m.

SUNDAY, JULY 23

Union Chapel Baptist Church will have its quarterly singing on Sunday, July 23, featuring guest singers Eagles’ Wings. Regular service will be at 9:45 a.m., with lunch at noon and singing at 1 p.m.

26th Street Baptist Church on Delaware Ave in Jasper will host Project Unity, a time to unite communities and law enforcement, on Sunday, July 23 at 2:30 p.m.

Herman Baptist Church on Herman Road in Curry will have a singing Sunday, July 23, at 5 p.m. Featured singers will be the Page Trio.

MONDAY, JULY 24

Woodland Trace Church of Christ in Jasper (located behind the Jasper Mall) will host its Vacation Bible School “Camp Out, Getting S’More of Jesus,” Monday, July 24, through Wednesday, July 26, from 6-8:30 p.m. each night. Event held for children ages 3 years old through fifth grade. Register online at www.wtcofc.org.

Jasper Christian Center at 12696 U.S. Highway 78 East in Jasper will host its Vacation Bible School “I Spy...Jesus In Me,” Monday, July 24, through Wednesday, July 26, from 6 until 8 p.m., for children ages 5 - 12. For more information, call 205-221-1747.

SATURDAY, JULY 29

First Christian Church at 400 West 18th St. in Jasper will host a “Pounding Day” on Saturday, July 29, where they will give away a pound of uncooked rice and a pound of uncooked beans (reclosable storage bags provided) to those who attend (one per family, please) from 8:30 a.m. until supply is gone. SUNDAY, JULY 30

New Bethany Full Gospel Church of God on Dogtown Road in Nauvoo will host its Fifth Sunday Singing Sunday, July 30, at 6 p.m., with guest singers, Crains Nest.

New Hope Holy Church of Christ on Rosehill Road in Nauvoo will have a gospel singing Sunday, July 30, at 5 p.m. with guest singers The Page Trio.

Snowtown Baptist Church at 5960 Flat Top Rd. in West Jefferson will have its Fifth Sunday night gospel singing Sunday, July 30, at 5 p.m. Featured singers will be Jammin’ For Jesus, Ray Charles and Lamar Winsett. Rev. Bob Thomason is the pastor.

SATURDAY, AUG. 5

Winston County Gospel Music Theater will host its first Saturday night singing on Saturday, Aug. 5, at 6 p.m., with featured guest singers, Trusting Grace from Bessemer. There is no charge for admission. A love offering will be taken.
