Church Happenings, Gospel Singings and Cemetery Meetings will be featured each Wednesday and Saturday in the Daily Mountain Eagle, and daily on the Community Calendar at www.mountaineagle. com. Events are listed free of charge. They are listed by calendar date and time as space allows, so there is no guarantee when or the number of days an event will run. Events are only accepted from local churches, faith-based ministries or organizations, and cemetery associations. Gray Cemetery at Odom Memorial Church in Parrish needs all flowers to be removed from gravesites by Friday, June 30, so cemetery can be mowed.

Sonshine Singers from New Prospect Baptist Church in Jasper will perform Wednesday, June 28, at 10 a.m. at Shadescrest Health Care Center in Jasper.

THURSDAY, JUNE 29

Argo First Baptist Church will host a “Women on Mission” meeting for women and young ladies on Thursday, June 29, at 6:30 p.m. The guest speaker, Jane Aswell, will be talking about her recent mission trip to Quatemala.

Sipsey Church of God on Pineywoods-Sipsey Road in Jasper hosts a Celebrate Recovery meeting every Thursday. Cake and coffee served at 6:30 p.m., with the program beginning at 7 p.m. For more information, contact Pastor Dale Lawley at 205-482-3586.

River of Living Water United Methodist Ministries (Christ United Methodist Church) at 1401 Jones Dairy Rd. in Jasper conducts a 12-step Celebrate Recovery program each Thursday at 7 p.m. A fellowship meal is provided at 6 p.m. For more information, call 205-221-3486.

SATURDAY, JULY 1

McCormack Cemetery in Dora request that all flowers sitting on the ground be removed by Saturday, July 1, or they will be discarded by grass cutter. This does not apply to flowers in vases or on tombstones.

The Church at Beech Grove at 347 Beech Grove Rd. in Townley hosts its First Saturday Night Singing and Service the first Saturday of each month at 6 p.m., featuring congregational singing, special guest singers and refreshments following the service. Winston County Gospel Theater (formerly Looney’s Tavern) on Alabama Highway 278 near Houston will not hosts a gospel singing in the month of July, due to the Fourth of July holiday. The singings will resume on the first Saturday of each month at 6 p.m. beginning Saturday, Aug. 5.

Saragossa Baptist Church Mens Prayer Group meets each Sunday at 9:30 a.m. at the church.

Nauvoo United Methodist Church on Third Avenue in Nauvoo hosts AA (Alcoholic Anonymous) and NA (Narcotics Anonymous) meetings each Monday and Friday at 6 p.m. at the church.

Saragossa Baptist Church Women’s Prayer Group will meet each Monday at 7 p.m. at the church.

TUESDAY, JULY 4

Carbon Hill Methodist Church at 178 Northwest 4th Ave. hosts Celebrate Recovery every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. and Twelve Step Program each Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

Awakening Life Church on Alabama Highway 257 in Jasper holds a CelebrateLIFE recovery and restoration accountability and support group meeting each Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the church. New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church at 205 New Bethel Rd in Jasper will host its Vacation Bible School Kickoff/Summer Fun Day Saturday, July 8, at 6 p.m. Giant slip-n-slide, laser tag, live worship music and outdoor games. Refreshments will be served.

Oakman Community Center will host a Southern gospel singing the second Saturday of each month at 6 p.m. Featured singers for July will be Crimson Stained and the Busby Family.

Rising Star Baptist Church in Dora will be celebrating Family and Friends Day 2017 Sunday, July 9, at 3 p.m., with special guests, Bishop Oliver Jones and the Temple of Hope Church in Birmingham.

Jasper First Baptist Church at 1604 4th Ave. in Jasper will have the Inspirations in concert Sunday, July 9, at 5 p.m. A love offering will be received.

MONDAY, JULY 10

Sonshine Singers from New Prospect Baptist Church in Jasper will perform Monday, July 10, at 10 a.m. at Cordova Health Care Center in Cordova.

Bevan Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, four miles east of Berry, will host its Vacation Bible School July 10-14, from 5:30 until 8 p.m. each night. Classes will be held for nursery to teens.

New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church at 205 New Bethel Road in Jasper will host its “Galatic Starveyors” Vacation Bible School Monday-Friday, July 10-14, from 6 until 8:30 p.m. each night.

Old Zion United Methodist Church at 1463 Old Zion Rd in Nauvoo (off Alabama Highway 5, seven miles north of Jasper) will host its “HERO CENTRAL: Discover Your Strength in God!” Vacation Bible School Monday-Friday, July 10-14, from 6 until 8:30 p.m. each night for children ages 3 years through 5th grade. Children will create crafts, sing songs and play games that will reinforce biblical teachings. Dinner will also be provided for the children each night.

Edgil Grove Baptist Church on Alabama Highway 5 North in Jasper will host its Vacation Bible School Monday-Friday, July 10-14, from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. each night.

New Bethany Full Gospel Church of God on Dogtown Road in Nauvoo will have revival services, with special guests, Purpose, Friday-Saturday, July 14-15, at 7 p.m. each night, and Sunday, July 16, at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Dutton Hill Baptist Church will open its clothes closet Saturday, July 15, at 8 a.m. Food bank will NOT be open in July.

Berry Civic Center in Berry will host a Southern gospel singing the third Saturday of each month at 6 p.m. featuring the Busby Family and other special guest singers. Admission is free, but a love offering will be received.

SUNDAY, JULY 16

Old Zion United Methodist Church at 1463 Old Zion Rd (off Alabama Highway 5, seven miles north of Jasper) in Nauvoo will host its Vacation Bible School Family Day will be Sunday, July 16, at 11 a.m. During the service parents will have a chance to see what their children have learned during Vacation Bible School and hear a word from Pastor David Hearn. The children will also receive their certificates of participation. Lunch will be provided after the service.

MONDAY, JULY 17

Westside Baptist Church in Jasper will host its Backyard Bible Club Monday-Wednesday, July 17-19, from 6-8 p.m. each night.

SATURDAY, JULY 22

Townley First Baptist Church at 228 Alabama Ave. in Townley will host the Page Trio Homecoming, featuring the Lovelace Family, on Saturday, July 22, at 6 p.m. Free Admission. Love offering will be taken. For more information, call 205-384-3274.

Union Chapel Baptist Church invites you to their quarterly singing on Sunday, July 23, featuring guest singers, Eagles’ Wings. Regular service will be at 9:45 a.m., with lunch at noon and singing at 1 p.m.
