Church Happenings, Gospel Singings and Cemetery Meetings will be featured each Wednesday and Saturday in the Daily Mountain Eagle, and daily on the Community Calendar at www.mountaineagle.com. Events are listed free of charge. They are ran by calendar date and time as space allows, so there is no guarantee when or the number of days an event will run. Events are only accepted from local churches, faith-based ministries or organizations, and cemetery associations. The deadline to place an event is no later than noon on Tuesday or Friday of each week. For information, call Elane Jones at 205-221-2840 or email information to elane.jones@mountaineagle.com.

THURSDAY, MAY 4

Sipsey Church of God on Pineywoods-Sipsey Road in Jasper will host a Celebrate Recovery meeting each Thursday. Cake and coffee served at 6:30 p.m., with Celebrate Recovery Program beginning at 7 p.m. For more information, contact Pastor Dale Lawley at 205-482-3586.

River of Living Water United Methodist Ministries (Christ United Methodist Church) at 1401 Jones Dairy Road in Jasper will conduct a 12-step Celebrate Recovery program each Thursday at 7 p.m. A meal and fellowship will be provided at 6 p.m. For more information, call 205-221-3486.

FRIDAY, MAY 5

Crossroads Cemetery on Alabama Highway 5 North in Jasper request that all flowers be removed from the cemetery by Friday, May 6 for cleanup on Saturday, May 6. Donations for cemetery can be placed in the drop-box at the cemetery or mailed to Crossroads Cemetery Fund, 468 Chism Loop, Jasper, AL 35503.

SATURDAY, MAY 6

Saint Cecilia Catholic Church at 2159 Alabama Highway 195 North in Jasper will have an indoor yard sale on Saturday, May 6, from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the church. Some furniture, clothes, linens, dishes, toys, etc.

Wilson Chapel Cemetery on Myers Road in Nauvoo: Cemetery committee will hold annual business meeting Saturday, May 6, at 10 a.m. at the cemetery. Everyone with loved ones buried at Wilson Chapel Cemetery is urged to attend. Donations for cemetery upkeep can be mailed to: Wilson Cemetery Fund, 114 Albert Windham Rd., Nauvoo, AL 35578.

Berry Church of God at 360 Fayette County Road 30 East in Berry will host a special Women’s Service featuring praise, worship and teaching on Saturday, May 6, at 11 a.m., with featured speaker, Angie Fowler, and music by Jennifer Short. All are welcome.

The Church at Beech Grove at 347 Beech Grove Road in Townley will host its first Saturday Night Singing and Service Saturday, May 6, at 5 p.m., featuring congregational singing, special guest singers and refreshments following the service. Winston County Gospel Theater (formerly Looney’s Tavern) on Alabama Highway 278 near Houston, Alabama will host a gospel singing Saturday, May 6, at 6 p.m., featuring the Alliance Quartet from Huntsville. Admission is free, but a love offering will be received.

SUNDAY, MAY 7

Saragossa Baptist Church Mens Prayer Group meets each Sunday at 9:30 a.m. at the church.

Old Bethel Church in Arley will have its Decoration Day on Sunday, May 7, with worship at 10 a.m. and lunch at noon. Bring your favorite covered dish. Guest singers will be Crains Nest from Northport.

Good Hope Baptist Church at 7508 River Road in Dora will have Homecoming with guest speaker, Bro. Tim Blackmon, on Sunday, May 7, with Sunday School at 10 a.m. and worship service at 11 a.m. and special guest singers, the Waylighters Quartet, at 1 p.m.

Pleasant Grove Baptist Church near Oakman will have Decoration Day on Sunday, May 7, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with guest singers EverPraySing and The Heavenly Heirs. Lunch will be from noon to 1 p.m.

Dutton Hill Baptist Church will have its Food Bank and Clothes Closet open Saturday, May 13, beginning at 8 a.m. at the church.

Boldo Methodist Church on Alabama Highway 69 North (across from the Dollar General) in Jasper will have its Free Clothes Closet Give-a-way Saturday, May 13, from 8 a.m. until noon at the church. For people who need of clothes or shoes.

Oakman Memorial Garden in Oakman will have its Cleanup and Decoration Day on Saturday, May 13, at 9 a.m. Everyone with family buried at Oakman Memorial Gardens is being urged to attend. A meeting will be held following the cleanup.

SATURDAY, MAY 20

Berry Civic Center in Berry will host a southern gospel singing Saturday, May 20, at 6 p.m. at the center. Admission is free, but a love offering will be received.

SUNDAY, MAY 21

Pleasant Hill Cemetery Committee will hold a meeting on Sunday, May 21, at 1 p.m. at the cemetery.

Goodsprings Church of Christ will have its Decoration Day Gospel Meeting Sunday, May 21, beginning with Bible study at 10 a.m., morning worship at 11 a.m., a fellowship luncheon, and afternoon worship at 2 p.m. Service times on Monday, May 22, and Tuesday, May 23, will be at 7 p.m. each night. Guest speaker will be Mel Futrell.
