Church Happenings, Gospel Singings and Cemetery Meetings will be featured each Wednesday and Saturday in the Daily Mountain Eagle, and daily on the Community Calendar at www.mountaineagle.com. Events are listed free of charge. They are ran by calendar date and time as space allows, so there is no guarantee when or the number of days an event will run. Events are only accepted from local churches, faith-based ministries or organizations, and cemetery associations. The deadline to place an event is no later than noon on Tuesday or Friday of each week. For information, call Elane Jones at 205-221-2840 or email information to elane.jones@mountaineagle.com.

CEMETERY NOTICES

Coal City Cemetery Committee requests that all old flowers be removed from the gravesites at Coal City Cemetery by Saturday, April 1.

Pleasant Grove Cemetery on Pleasant Grove Road in Oakman: please remove all old flowers by Saturday, April 1, for mowing. The Pleasant Grove Cemetery Association will also hold a meeting on Saturday, April 1, at 3 p.m. at the cemetery.

Steadman Cemetery at Kings Chapel Methodist Church: please remove all old flowers by Saturday, April 1, for mowing.

Pleasant Grove Cemetery on Fish Hatchery Road in Fayette County: please remove all old flowers from the cemetery by April 15 for mowing.

Zula Musgrove Cemetery in the Barney community of Cordova will no longer have year round maintenance of the cemetery after April 20, 2017, due to the lack of donations, interest and money. All persons with loved ones buried there will be responsible for the care of their loved ones graves. Cemetery Board Members are Sue Key, Nelson Barnett, Carl and Bonnie Whisenhunt. Dovertown Cemetery Committee request that any flowers, decorations, etc. that you wish to keep be removed by Saturday, April 1. Decoration will be Sunday, April 16. Donations for the cemetery upkeep maybe mailed to Dovertown Cemetery Fund, c/o Ray Gurganus, 790 Jent Road, Cordova, AL 35550.

SUNDAY, MARCH 26

Corona Holiness Church will have a special guest speaker, Jerry Burton, at its 10 a.m. worship service on Sunday, March 26, and special guest singers, the Fowler Family from Bankston, at its 5 p.m. service.

6th Avenue Baptist Church at 2617 6th Avenue South in Jasper invites you to come celebrate the 34th Pastoral Appreciation Anniversary Celebration for the church’s pastor, Rev. Edmond Hullett Sr., on Sunday, March 26, at 3 p.m. Guest speaker will be Rev. Carlton Roden of the Shady Grove Baptist in Pinson.

Friendship Independent Church of God on Blackwell Dairy Road in Jasper will have a singing Sunday, March 26, at 6 p.m. Guest singers will be the Busby Family from Berry.

FRIDAY, MARCH 31

New Canaan Baptist Church on Walston Bridge Road in Jasper will have a benefit singing on Friday, March 31, at 6 p.m. for one of their members who will be traveling to Atlanta to pursue her singing talent for the Lord.

SATURDAY, APRIL 1

The Church at Beech Grove at 347 Beech Grove Road in Townley will host its first Saturday Night Singing and Service Saturday, April 1, at 5 p.m., featuring congregational singing, special guest singers and refreshments following the service. Winston County Gospel Theater (formerly Looney’s Tavern) on Alabama Highway 278 near Houston, Alabama will host a gospel singing Saturday, April 1, at 6 p.m. featuring the Gospel Barn Quartet. Admission is free, but a love offering will be received.

SUNDAY, APRIL 2

Saragossa Baptist Church Mens Prayer Group meets each Sunday at 9:30 a.m. at the church.

Awakening Life Church on Alabama Highway 257 in Jasper will hold a CelebrateLIFE recovery and restoration accountability and support group meeting each Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the church. Elm Grove Church of God at 13412 County Road 63 North in Carbon Hill will present the movie “The Passion of the Christ” on Saturday, April 15, at 4 p.m. in the church’s fellowship hall. Admission is free.

Berry Civic Center in Berry will host a southern gospel singing the third Saturday of each month at 6 p.m. at the Civic Center. Admission is free, but a love offering will be received.

SUNDAY, APRIL 16

Sumiton Church of God invites you to be their guest as they celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, April 16, beginning at 10:45 a.m. with a musical presentation by the Spirit Singer’s Sanctuary Choir and the Youth Ministry, followed by an illustrated sermon from the Word of God by Pastor Victor Massey.
