Carl W. Thompson, 67, born and raised in Birmingham, now resides in Oakman. The Lord called him home on Friday, July 21, 2019. Family will receive friends Tuesday, June 25, 2019, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 26, 2019, 11 a.m. at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home. Johnny Martin and Kevin McDaniel will officiate. Burial will be at Walker Memory Gardens.
Carl was a Sergeant of the United States Marine Corp. from 1970-1973. He served as a soldier in Vietnam. He was a store manager for Winn Dixie in Jasper for many years. He was the owner of Brazil Insurance is Bessemer, and was currently employed with Commercial Sector in Birmingham. He was a member of Oakman Free Will Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carl G. Thompson; his mother, Purnie Thompson; and sister, Jill Faucett.
He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Vonnie Naramore Thompson; daughters, Angela Martin (Jeremy), Connie Colbert (Dave); son, Ken Farris; grandchildren Emily Colbert, Daniel Colbert ( Taylor), Madison Martin, and Ila Kate Martin; great granddaughter, Blakely Rose Colbert; brother Danny Thompson (Carol) of Pinson; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Oakman Free Will Baptist Church.
