Carbon Hill falls to Midfield

CARBON HILL — Midfield spoiled Carbon Hill’s homecoming Friday night at G.W. Keith Stadium, pulling away for a 44-14 victory over the Bulldogs.

Carbon Hill trailed just 14-8 at the half before the Patriots erupted for 22 straight points to built a 36-8 lead.

Midfield (2-4, 2-2) opened the game with a scoring drive capped by a 16-yard touchdown run by Karsten Threatt for a 6-0 lead. The Patriots made the score 14-0 in the second quarter on a 10-yard touchdown run by Quindarius Adams with 10:23 left in the first half.

Carbon Hill got on the board with 4:29 left in the half on a nine-yard touchdown run by Brandon Scoles. Jon Michael Madison hit Carson McGinnis for the two-point conversion to make the score 14-8.

Midfield scored the next three touchdowns to put Carbon Hill away.

Quarterback Anthony Brown rushed for a touchdown and threw a touchdown pass and Kennan Isaac added a touchdown run as Midfield built a 36-8 lead with 11:48 left in the game.

Scoles added Carbon Hill’s second touchdown on a four-yard run with 6:12 remaining. Midfield got a 31-yard touchdown run less than a minute later to close out the scoring.

Carbon Hill (2-5, 0-4) is off next week before hosting Oakman.
