Lacey Evans and Abby Martin recorded double-doubles to lead Carbon Hill to a 52-43 victory over Oakman in the Class 3A, Area 10 Tournament at Winfield on Monday night.

Carbon Hill, which dropped both regular season matchups to the Wildcats, advance to Wednesday’s championship game against Winfield set for 3:30 p.m. The season comes to a disappointing end for Oakman.

On Monday, the Wildcats closed Carbon Hill’s lead to a single point with two minutes remaining, but the Bulldogs put the game away with a 9-1 run.

“I’m so proud of this bunch and I always am, win or lose. They play hard. They are coachable, and they play together,” Carbon Hill coach Wade Tittle said. “We out rebounded them 34-25 and that was the difference. The shots just didn’t fall early, but we stayed with it and made some down the stretch. At this time of the year it’s about survival. You have to find a way to win, and we did that.”

Evans finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds, Martin had 13 points, 11 rebounds, six steals and five assists. Allie Parr added eight points, Bailey Kelley had six points and both Grayson Evans and Alayna Ivie put in five.

For Oakman, Alaisha Hubbard had 20 points, Iyana Canada had 14 and Chante Williams added nine. Oakman led 9-7 after the first quarter on Monday. Carbon Hill (18-11) took a 21-17 lead at the half and a 32-28 lead into the fourth quarter.

Carbon Hill dropped both regular-season games to Winfield.
