Burglary suspect captured after foot chase

A Dora man wanted by several law enforcement agencies was arrested on burglary charges Friday after fleeing from officers.
Robert Wayne McCarty, 43, of Dora, was charged with burglary 3rd degree, theft of property 4th degree, and fleeing and eluding law enforcement. He was wanted by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Sumiton Police Department and Homewood Police Department.
McCarty allegedly stole items from a residence on Thursday night. His face was captured on a video surveillance system.
The victim provide a tip on McCarty's location. The Investigations and Narcotics Divisions of the Walker County Sheriff's Office responded to the area down from Canaan Church Road off of Bryan Road. Upon arrival, McCarty fled on foot into the woods but was quickly captured by investigators.
A member of WCSO's Most Wanted, Brandon Ray Phillips, is suspected of being the getaway driver for the burglary. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Walker County Sheriff's Office at 302-6464.
