The Bevill State Bears rallied from a 12-point, second-half deficit to beat the Wallace-Selma Patriots on Saturday at Glen Clem Gymnasium.

Wanya King led the Bears with 31 points and five rebounds, while Miguel Williams scored 20 points. Chris Freeman recorded a double-double of 15 points, 10 rebounds with three steals and Nelson Haskin had six points, six rebounds and three blocks.

After the Bears held a small lead in the opening minutes of the game, the momentum shifted to the Patriots, who took control and maintained it until the half — holding a 40-35 advantage at the break.

Wallace-Selma steadily built on its lead through most of the second period — up by 12 points with eight minutes left in regulation before the Bevill State rally began.

A fierce pressure defense by the Bears, along with a series of 3-point baskets by King and Williams helped Bevill State take command. Williams put the Bears on top 66-65 with a 3-point play at the 4:34 mark.

Williams' 3-pointer at the 3:50 mark gave Bevill State at 69-67 lead. He also knocked down two more 3-pointers in the next 90 seconds. His second gave the Bears a 77-73 lead with 2:26 left.

King helped put the game away with a 3-pointer as the shot clock expired for an 82-75 advantage with 53 seconds left.

Bevill State (8-1) travels to Coastal Alabama East on Wednesday.
