Bears spilt double header with Bison

SUMITON — A pair of contrasting performances dominated Monday's double header between Bevill State and Southern Union — with the Bison winning Game 1, 11-3, in five innings, followed by a impressive 7-0 shutout by the Bears in Game 2, in Sumiton.

In Game 1, Macy Hodges and Katy Roszell pitched two and one-thirds innings each, while Skylar Birdyshaw pitched one-third inning.

Offensively, Abigail Crane had a two-run homerun, Alyssa Lang had a double with a run scored and Kaylee Ellis scored a run.

Birdyshaw had a superb performance in the circle for Game 2, giving up one hit with two walks, while striking out five batters in seven shutout innings.

At the plate, Kaitlin Kelley went 2 for 3 with a run scored, two RBIs and a homerun, Heather Thompson was 2 for 3 with two RBIs, Sky Santos went 2 for 3 with a run scored, Birdyshaw was 2 for 4 with a run scored, Lang went 1 for 3 with two runs scored, Crane was 1 for 2 with a run scored and an RBI and Ellis went 1 for 3 with a run scored.
