Bears fall to Snead State in ACCC matchup

Snead State built a 20-point halftime lead and held off a Bevill State second-half charge for a 76-69 victory at Glcn Clem Gymnasium on Thursday night.

Both Fabian Bell and Hunter Preston had 10 first-half points for Snead State as the Parsons took a 35-15 lead over the cold-shooting Bears.

Bevill State’s Miguel Williams, Wanya King and Peyton Woods caught fire in the second half as the Bears scored 54 points over the final 20 minutes. Bevill State was unable to get any closer than seven points down the stretch.

The Bears have dropped five straight home games and eight of their last nine overall.

For Bevill State (15-10 overall, 4-7 in ACCC play) Williams had 22 points, King added 17 points and Woods put in 16.

Snead State (21-8, 8-3) was led by Preston with 17 points, Bell had 16 and Jason King added 12 points.

Bevill State plays its final home game of the season starting at 7 p.m. Monday against Gadsden State.
