ARLEY — A full day of events are planned for Saturday's Arley Day Festival.
The day will begin at 7 a.m. with a 5K/Fun Run sponsored by the Meek Band of Champions. Registration will be held at 6:30 a.m. at Arley First Baptist Church.
A pancake breakfast by Arley First Baptist Church will be held at Arley Fire Station from 7 to 8:30 a.m.
Line-up for the parade starts at 8 a.m. at Dollar General/ Southern Roots Fashion parking lot on County Road 41. The parade will begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at Hamner Park, site of other festivities.
The festival officially begins at 8:30 a.m. with a wide variety of vendors and food trucks. There will be a bake sale and Snack Shack and free ice cream will be offered.
The car show will open at 9 a.m. A donation of $20 is suggested for those wishing to enter their vehicles. Prizes will be awarded for cars and trucks, and there will be a 50/50 and money tree. Vehicles are invited to join the parade prior to the show.
Kids will enjoy numerous games and rides. A pirate's ship is one added attraction. Two new water features are Wild Rapids Wet Slide, a 22-foot double slide and splash pool, and the Dash-N-Splash, a wet obstacle course leading up the stairs and down the slide.
Kids can ride, splash and play all day with a $10 band.
The duck pond, skeeball and spin art will be in the games tent. Always popular, the Circle of Swings and a new, 500-gallon dunk tank will be on hand with willing victims.
A $10 Bungee band can be purchased for the Bungee Trampoline.
Free archery training will be set-up in the backfield by Alabama Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries-Hunter Educational Program.
The festival represents the largest fundraising event hosted each year by the Arley Women’s Club.
The funds raised remain local, from supporting Scouts, fire departments, the Arley library, Hamner Park, recycling, scholarships and other worthwhile projects by careful review, while benefiting the community.
Drawings for the Big Green Egg package and a beautiful Hand-crafted Quilt can be found at the Women’s Club Info booth. The Arley Women's Club Bake Sale tent will be positioned next to the Food Court.
Many sponsors make the event possible. This year, sponsors were offered four levels of participation — diamond partner, diamond sponsor, granite and marble sponsors.
The top level, Diamond Partners, each gave a $1,000 donation.
“We are so grateful for our initial Diamond Partners: Melissa Dodge of ARC Realty-Smith Lake, Traditions Bank, Son’s of Arley Smokehouse, along with Honda of Jasper and Hyundai of Jasper who have long supported the Women’s Club," said sponsor committee chair Belinda Rahal. "These four jumped in early and have shared our promotions, signage and publicity. The response throughout the business community has been so strong, everyone wants to help with this fundraiser. Special thanks go to all of our sponsors.”
