Seven teams in the Daily Mountain Eagle’s coverage area will play for a berth in the AHSAA State Tournament in Tuscaloosa and Muscle Shoals, beginning today with Class 1, 3 and 4A competition.
In Tuscaloosa’s Bowers Park, the Oakman Wildcats, the Class 3A, Area 10 winner will kick off the action at 9 a.m. against Piedmont, the Area 11 runner-up.
At 10:30 a.m., Class 4A action starts with Area 11 winner Cordova against Area 10 runner-up Hokes Bluff, while Area 11 runner-up Curry battles Area 10 winner White Plains.
Class 1A starts play at 12 p.m. with Area 9 runner-up Lynn against Area 12 winner Falkville, while Area 12 runner-up Meek plays Area 9 winner Marion County.
On Friday, Sumiton Christian, Class 2A, Area 11 winner will face Area 10 runner-up West End at 3 p.m.
Also on Friday in Muscle Shoals’ Coffee O’Neal Park, Class 2A, Area 14 runner-up Winston County plays Area 15 winner Red Bay.
The top two qualifiers in each region earn bids in next week’s state tournament in Montgomery.
