Bevill State Community College-Jasper has announced the 2017 Ms. Bevill State Pageant will be held Friday, April 14.

The winner of the pageant will receive a $500 Bevill State scholarship, with first runner-up receiving a $350 scholarship and second runner-up earning a $150 scholarship.

To qualify for the pageant, women must be enrolled at Bevill State and have a minimum of six credit hours. A registration fee of $25 is required and applications may be picked up at any student services office. The deadline to enter the pageant is Thursday, March 30.

Student coordinator Tiqua Gator said 20 to 25 girls typically participate in the annual pageant, and she encourages women on all Bevill State campuses who are interested in participating to apply.

“I think that pageants build confidence for females and serve as a networking opportunity,” Gator said. “It’s an opportunity for them to make new friends.”

The pageant will be in Rowland Auditorium on the Jasper Campus at 7 p.m.

Judging will be based on photogenic quality, judges interview, causal wear and evening gown.

Any student interested in entering the pageant should contact Gator at (205) 387-0511, ext. 5770.
