ADDISON — The Addison Bulldogs rushed for nearly 400 yards and coasted to a 45-13 win over Hubbertville on Thursday night in their Class 1A first-round playoff game at A.G. Hicks Stadium.

No. 8 Addison (9-2) used a big-play offense to build an 18-0 halftime lead.

Quarterback Zayne Guthrie struck first on a 83-yard run on the game’s second play for a 6-0 lead. Hubbertville held the ball for most of the quarter, but was unable to score. The Bulldogs struck again at the 4:59 mark of the second quarter, when Tyler Borden broke loose for a 64-yard run and a 12-0 edge. The final points of the half came courtesy of a Guthrie 24-yard strike to Colton Chambers and an 18-0 lead headed to the locker room.

The second half proved much of the same as Addison scored on four of five possessions.

The Bulldogs took over at their own 27-yard line after a muffed punt by the Lions. Guthrie hit Logan Wilkins on a 16-yard touchdown pass at the 7:49 mark to extend the lead to 24-0.

Guthrie finished the game with 190 total yards of offense.

Hubbertville (3-7) finally got on the board on the ensuing possession as Daniel Holliday dove in from the 1- yard line.

Addison closed out third quarter scoring on the next play when Borden again found pay dirt on a 51-yard run. A two-point conversion made it the score 32-6 heading to the final frame.

Borden, who finished with 189 yards rushing, scored his third touchdown of the game on a 29-yard run, making the score 38-6.

Holliday, who rushed for 115 yards, added a 1-yard run for Hubbertville. Mario Gonzales added the extra point.

The final score came when Braxton Preuitt got loose on a 45-yard run. Caleb Crider kicked it to a final of 45-13.

Addison (9-2) will meet the winner of the Hackleburg vs Woodville game in a second-round matchup next week.
