Addison runs past Vinemont, 21-6

VINEMONT — Addison’s rushing attack proved too much for Vinemont in a 21-6 road victory over the Eagles on Friday night.

The Bulldogs averaged nine yards per carry on the night, rushing for 279 yards on 31 carries.

Caleb Crider led the Addison charge, rushing for 106 yards and a score on 10 carries. Sage Smothers and Christian Roberts also had rushing touchdowns in the game as Addison improved to 4-2 on the season.

Roberts put the Bulldogs on the scoreboard in the opening quarter, scoring from 24 yards out. The two-point conversion gave Addison an 8-0 lead. Vinemont cut the gap to 8-6 with a second quarter touchdown. That would be as close as the Eagles would get.

Addison added touchdowns in both the third and fourth quarters.

Smothers scored from six yards out in the third quarter. Eli Howse’s extra point made the score 15-6. Crider scored the game-clincher from 35 yards out in the final quarter for the final points of the day.

Nelson Martin was Addison’s second-leading rusher with 49 yards on four carries, Smothers had 44 yard on seven carries and Weston Smith rushed eight times for 24 yards.

Defensively, Dylan Norman had 12 tackles, including one tackle for loss. Crider had nine tackles, with one tackle for loss. Both Xavier Barley and Cannon Hiller had interceptions.

Addison hosts Colbert County in a key region matchup next week.
