Lynn improves to 7-0 with rout of Southeastern

Meek’s John Mark Abercrombie rushed for 344 yards and five touchdown to single-handedly lead the Tigers to a 43-28 win at R.A. Hubbard on Friday night.

The senior running back had touchdown runs of 63, 37, 1, 3 and 21 yards. He added three two-point conversions. Abercrombie now has 1,155 yards and 16 touchdowns on the season.

R.A. Hubbard led 14-13 after the opening quarter. Meek grabbed a 19-14 halftime lead thanks to Abercrombie’s one-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.

The Tigers took control of the game in the third quarter, outscoring the Chiefs 16-6 for a 35-20 lead going into the fourth quarter.

Both teams scored one touchdown in the final quarter. Meek’s came on a Stuart Waldrep 10-yard interception return.

Meek finished with 392 yards compared to 364 for R.A. Hubbard.

The win, also keeps Meek (5-2, 1-2) alive for a playoff spot in Class 1A, Region 7.

R.A. Hubbard fell to 1-6, 0-4.

Meek takes a three-game winning streak into next week’s home game against Addison.

Lynn 56, Southeastern 13

Lynn scored at will and piled up the points, hammering Southeastern 56-13 at Remlap on Friday night.

The eighth-ranked Bears jumped to an early 14-0 lead and coasted through the final three quarters. Lynn led 35-6 at the half and 42-6 going into the final quarter.

Lynn put together a season-high 536 yards in the win with 383 coming on the ground.

Blake Adams led a balanced Bears’ attack with 78 yards and two touchdowns on four carries. Ethan Delay rushed for 73 yards and two scores on seven carries. Griffin Lynn added 26 yards and two touchdowns on four carries. Both Noah Jackson and Jordan Davis added rushing scores as well.

Jackson completed 7 of 10 passes for 105 yards while Brandon Hill was 1 for 3 for 48 yards. Next up for undefeated Lynn (7-0, 4-0) is a home game against Sumiton Christian next week.

Tarrant 38, Winston County 8

Tarrant jumped out to an early lead and picked up a lopsided 38-8 win at Winston County High School on Friday night.

The Yellow Jackets, who were celebrating homecoming, dropped their third straight game, falling to 1-5, 1-2 on the season.

Winston County hosts Cold Springs next week in another Class 2A, Region 7 matchup.
